Militarised Police

What do you think about militarising the police

Wow, you guys managed an unwinding of power. Nicely done.
When the long-gun registry ballooned to over a billion dollars there was a considerable push to stop throwing away money to keep an eye on farmers and deer hunters.

Whatever it takes to get rid of terrorist groups like ISIS and Black Lives Matter. They are a serious threat to democracy and need to be taken out By Any Means Necessary.

Maybe less military-style behavior and more of this would go a long way.

The police officers were eating at an Eat N' Park restaurant in Pennsylvania when the couple walked in.

Jesse Meyers, a server at the restaurant, tried to seat the couple at a table near the officers, according to WTAE. But the couple refused to sit there.

But rather than react with irritation or hate, the officers decided an act of kindness would accomplish more. Thomas and another officer at the table suggested paying for the couple’s check and asked Meyers to bring their bill.

It was $28.50, and the officers also left a $10 tip, according to WTAE.

“Sir, your check was paid for by the police officers that you didn’t want to sit next to,” the officers wrote on the check. “Thank you for your support.”

Yes, because $38.50 makes up for murdering people.

Yeah that tab a) doesn't make up for their passive aggressiveness, and more importantly b) just kind of highlights they're stuck in an echo chamber with one another about what the sentiment nationwide is turning into (whether right or wrong).

Sure it does. Wipes the whole slate clean.

They seemed very aware of sentiment, based on the "we won't hurt you" comment. If killing 'em with kindness is what you consider passive aggressive then I'll take it.

Their quote in the note was killing 'em with kindness to you? Read pretty passive aggressive to me.

If they wanted to make an impression and change minds they wouldn't have tried to throw it in their face.

At least they were making an attempt.

At least they were making an attempt.

They didn't get the tab to extend an olive branch. They bought the meal to be able to say "thanks for your support" and hold their noses up. It was a bitch move.

Edit: By the way, a video someone posted up yesterday with a cop break dancing in front of a group in Tennessee is how you change minds, not by acting holier than thou.

Maybe they were trying to extend an olive branch, but still wanted to get a dig in. A lot of cops have a pretty fucked up sense of humour.

Like I said, I'll take it. I'm guessing most would predict the cops would wait outside to hassle 'em and find a potential moving violation or something. But hey, if it wasn't ass-kissy enough for you then fine.

No. Clearly they'd use the moving violation as justification to shoot them.

Well that's the point. "The dig" is buying their meal when the other customers refused to sit next to them. They just created resentment when they tried throwing it in their face by telling them, "Hey we just bought your meal and we think you're an asshole."

I doubt they created resentment. The article says the couple smiled and said thank you on their way out.

There are different levels of twatishness. I definitely concede that.

Middle East is now coming to the West if that's the case.
