The same agenda is being rolled out across all 1st and 2nd world countries. But it seems furthest ahead in the USA and particularly with regard to recent events. In the false flag Orlando event there were 3 SWAT teams who fired several hundred rounds IIRC, then in Dallas the police ironically sent a bomb robot to blow someone up.

They are transforming what was a common law free citizens society into a brutal, totalitarian police state and using the good old false flag, ordo ab chaos, problem reaction solution technique to make the more naive among us request and support it. That's the way I see it in a nutshell. What do you think?

Force has to be met with force. So I don't know how to answer the poll.

The Dallas shooter was military. That's how good he was. So thank God for the robot that killed him.

We needed some militarized police just to take this dude out.

We do not want local police forces being controlled by the federal oversight like Obama wants. That's when this could get scary.

Dan Carlin did a good "Common Sense" podcast about the militarization of police and about escalation tactics in general. His argument was that the militarization of police has lead to a riff between the police and the people they are supposed to serve and protect. It would be better for society in the long run if police weren't equipped in state of the art weapons and armors, but the short term cost is that some officers (and potentially innocent victims) are going to be killed. An emotional argument that comes down to "if it saves one life" is very difficult to defeat with logic.

I hate seeing this kinda shit:

Especially when its after some shooting where the cops never went in to stop anything.

But as things get more violent over time, I'm sure it could be the start of the beginning of this trend.

I understand the need for SWAT and like organizations to respond to certain situations. Unfortunately it is necessary in today's world. I find it somewhat palatable when these organizations are locally controlled, less palatable when they are state controlled and fucking terrifying when federally controlled.

Unless they're walking around in stormtrooper armor all day err day, i wouldn't consider it really militarization. The apcs and shit come out for specific situations which is the way it should be.

What I don't get is that crowds of idiots are blocking highways, and cops come and stand around and watch them. We don't need more militarized police, we need regular police to haul these people into giant buses and take them away.

Must suck to be the one storm trooper with a paintball gun

I'd like to point out that only a very small percentage of UK police are armed. The coppers in the picture you posted are almost certainly from a specialised unit like SO19. They have as much in common with the average British bobby as Seal Team 6 does with the average sailor.

The problem lies, in my opinion on the fact that police departments in the US want to have their cake and eat it too. They want military grade weapons and to be able to use military style tactics, but not to actually restructure themselves into a military force with all the sacrifice that entails.

An actual gendarmerie would have higher physical requirements, a more stringent selection process, a more demanding training regimen, more clear rules, etc., etc.

And that leaves aside the fact that it’s not actually necessary. The crime rates in the US have been going down for decades. They don’t actually need a more military style approach to law enforcement.

Funny how "things are getting more violent" is pretty much the consensus.

I get tired of posting this but it keeps being useful

Crime is at the lowest it's been in about a half century. Way less crime, way more militarization.

And if you think protests are violent, perhaps you should look into the protests during the Civil Rights era and in the labor rights era.

Voted for more, intended to vote for stay the way they are

I wonder if they've realized that they're going to have problems shooting with those masks on without lasers.

Militarised special teams are all that's really needed.
