Mike Tyson: UFC was kicking our butt

UFC is a bigger sport than boxing for the past decade and will continue to be so.. They have far bigger stars and talent than boxing. UFC is the premier sport rn, everyone's watching it. Sure boxing will still have decent viewership and the people that work there will over exaggerate there success when we all know their numbers is horseshit.
Just your impression, or do you have objective data to back it up?

Just your impression, or do you have objective data to back it up?

Let's keep it simple

It makes no sense to compare ufc's ppv and boxing, because they are two complete different models. UFCs m is closer to WWEs model. But I think boxing will follow WWEs model too... Maybe in few decades, lol.

It makes no sense to compare boxing undercard fighters and UFC undercard fighters because most of the time boxing undercard fighters are not even in the top 300 in their weight class.

UFC and boxing are super different. Ufc gives many times what fans want but they are shit to fighters. Boxing rarely does what fans really want but they are better to fighters.

Both have their yey moments and oh shit moments.

I will never understand why combat fans care so much about popularity... I mean WWE at his worst is still more popular than both.

I just looked it up and Ali vs Spinks II was watched by 2 billion people live.

The world's population at the time was 4.2 billion.

Wtf...
Im not sure thats even possible lol....

I remember one of my teachers telling me his whole school stopped classes to watch the Rumble in the Jungle, still blows my mind.
That’s nuts! Only time I’ve sever seen that is when the school I teach at suspended lessons when England got into the World Cup semi finals a few years ago!
And lost...
Btw, your AV is the best in the universe.

I'm pretty sure most Pakistanis and Chinese knew who Ali was lol

Ali, Elvis, and Michael Jackson might be the most famous people ever other than the US President/Queen of England.
China didn’t know know anything about Ali in the 60s and 70s.

There was a time when boxing wasn't just part of the mainstream, it was the mainstream; but for that you have to go back to the 1920s & 30s, with the pinnacle match of that era being the fight between Joe Louis vs. Max Schmeling 2. Then you have the Muhammad Ali era giving the sport back the crown of #1 in all sports. Then you have the Tyson era which took it away from the top and into PPV--the money era, still popular but not as popular as the other sports, and from there a combination of ODLH/Pacquiao/Mayweather, still in PPV and more of a niche sport nowadays.

To be fair, I still see boxing as a major sport.
MMA? I love it, but it's still a bush league sport at best.

Where's the money and prestige? Boxing

Jake Paul saved the dying sport of boxing.

The success of this last weekend show demonstrates the steep decline of boxing.

Boxers from the early 90s and media grifters rounding out the fight card.

What? Canelo, Golovkin, Joshua and Wilder are major draw IMO.
Yeah true. Pacquiao is semi-active still.
I wenn a little over the hill with that statement. There are some really big draws in boxing. The thing is other than Hardcore fans noone really cares for Fights like Povetkin vs White. And also its pretty rare that out of These major draws two fighters fight each other (Like wilder vs fury). I dont think the two warm up fights for Fury before the Wilder fights actually sold for much.

The fact that they had to fudge the result of an "exhibition" fight(draw.. instead of Tyson win).. just sums up boxing

If MMA fans think judges suck.. boxing takes it to another level.. the constant protecting of fighters makes it even worse

No way that is true. You're right on the population it was 4.3 billion, but consider that a tiny percentage of people in populated countries like China, India, Indonesia, and Brazil had access to a tv at that time. Even if every single person in the U.S and Europe watched it you wouldn't have those numbers. I'm sure a lot of people watched it but that's a hype job. I'll believe that number when I believe that 80 million people voted for the crypt keeper.

Modern statistics of households with tvs which would have exponentially grown since the 70's

"They should give these guys some belts because these guys make boxing alive,"

"Boxing was pretty much a dying sport. The UFC was kicking our butt,"

"Boxing is going back thanks to the YouTube boxers."

Haha Highly fucking doubtful. The Dems have been rigging elections for decades and everyone knows it. It's been a joke since I was a child that the 2 most popular voting blocks for Dems are dead people and illegals. I'm not a Republican but you leftist cunts are the most dishonest fucking people on the planet. You would have to be retarded to believe Joe Biden got 80 million votes.

24.6 million more voters in 2020 than 2016. 10.5 million population increase in that time frame according to census data. So even if 100% of the population increase in those 4 years was legal, of voting age, and voted(which didn't happen), we are to believe another 14 million non voters got off the couch, while maintaining 100% participation from the 2016 crowd. Sounds super reasonable. Also there are thousands of claims of voter fraud all going one way. If Trump was ahead and there was a single accusation about him it would be spoken of as Gospel.

You know how I know you're a fucking retard? You believe there is any difference between the corporate media that loves Wall Street, Big Tech, and constantly pushes division. One of the Murdoch's congratulated Biden on his theft. The corporate media is all the same, and none of them are for the good of the American people. Keep arguing for the chains of your own enslavement tough guy.

Self fulfilling gif. Triggered fuckin loser.

seriously?
China was going through massive social upheaval (the cultural revolution) and also was not exposed to almost any western media. China didn’t open up to the west until 1978, and even then I doubt families were sitting down to watch a boxing match, there was still massive poverty in China then.

Oh I know, I wasn't saying anything about UFC... Apparently it was estimated 1 Billion anyway after a quick google, so that's a Quarter of the Population not half.

Which fight has more views than Rumble in the Jungle? How do they even know these viewing figures? I can't find any sources at all other than the Rumble of the Jungle 1 Billion figure which seems weird anyway to say it had 50 Million PPV buys, how do you count the extra nine hundred fifty million people? Dodgy 70's streams LOL.
I streamed on radio
