He did not apologize, because he didn't do it. It was consensual. She was calling his mansion in Ohio to try to have a relationship with him. Women who get assaulted don't pursue relationships, plus they offered him the chance to get out of prison earlier if he admitted to it, but he said he wouldn't admit to something he didn't do.
