This is overblown for the LWs, fighters always fight big names. Pretty much all the top LWs fought guys outside of LW division when they acquired losses to big names.

What would be the point of beating someone like Dariush to not fight a bigger name after?

Chandler is not a top 5 LW either.

Thank God he isn't, but he was for the longest pre Olivera. I'm just tired of the snake eating it's tail with guys just all fighting and losing to only the top 5 and then not really fight much outside it. It's the lack of new blood, these are pretty much same fighters when Khabib was fighting.

Just hypothetically if they made Chandler vs. BSD I would lean towards Chandler but if If they made Chandler vs. Pimblett I think Pimblett would beat Chandler at this point. I've already mentioned Chandler's fight IQ but he also has issues with defense as a whole. He gets hit a lot.

I'm sure as fuck not at the top, but I think I can say with a decent amount of certainty that if I ever was, I wouldn't see Mike there. I don't hate the guy. I'm a fight fan at the end of the day. But he keeps fighting (and losing) to top 5 guys over and over again. Never drops too far in the rankings and the other guys in the division never get a chance to break through. Fiziev is 31 years old and isn't getting any younger. Him and Chandler would be a good test for each other so we can truly see where each guy is at in the division. Losses to Gamrot and Gaethje shouldn't keep you on the outside looking into the top 10 of the rankings imo

Honestly you underestimate chandler yes he's lost but no one has hade him look easy
 
He should have to fight someone like Fiziev, Moicano or BSD.. and hopefully they beat his ass spectacularly. That being said they’ll probably throw him into another title eliminator despite barely accomplishing anything in the promotion.

Sherdog really overblows this. With the exception of Chandler and Justin.
Max has fought Justin and Dustin 2019 he's had Ten other opponents between or since.
Charles fought Chandler and Justin with Islam, beniel and Arman in between.
Dustin fought max and 4 others before Charles/Chandler/Justin and now he's fought bsd and Islam.
So three of your five always fighting each other are more often not fighting each other.

Max isn't a problem, he seems to fight fresh guys, but LWs taking Max over fresh matchups at LW is the issue.

Atleast Olivera has fought Dariush and Arman outside of the usual suspects. Dustin/Justin/Chandler have only fought the same guys besides BSD or Fiziev. Granted they won but both guys looked good against them even though they lost. More LWs need to get a shot at LW top 5.
 
chandler has the smartest attitude when it comes to being an mma fighter. fight and train as hard as you can and put it all out when you fight, to ensure that your fights are always exciting via your fighting style and in knowing what fans should expect. that's the key to michael chandler's success in terms of making money. he's a sellable commodity that the ufc can rely on. chandler's on the card and everyone in the mma scene knows they're in for at least one great fight. the ufc being able to say that helps them so much in marketing that lots of fans may not notice.

he shouldnt be cut, but shouldnt receive a top 5 until he's got a winning record, paddy, fizev, bsd, moicano, he should be fighting that level of fighter.
