News Miesha Tate says that she spent 98% of her return fight purse covering training expenses

No one is paying 70% in taxes. Not even people that win the lottery.

Why not settle in an actual training camp, rather than continually flying in people?

For environmental impact reasons, I'm a big fan of organic farming. However, there is very little scientific backing that shows organic foods are that much more healthy for you, even an athlete.

It is one of these three IMO

1) She could just be terrible at managing money. It is amazing how fast it can go if you are terrible with money.
2) She is hiding it for reasons related to bill collectors or divorce.
3) It could be a deception for politics towards the argument to give fighters more pay.

i dont beleive her either. why wouldnt she have said this long ago. i not be shocked if half her purse went to training her manager and taxes cause all people have to pay taxes 2.
Almost half the country doesn't pay taxes, and very very few pay over 30%. Even if her entire purse was considered taxable income, which it isn't even close after writing off expenses, but even if it was, only $35k of her purse would be taxable at 30%, which turns into $0 taxable at that rate if her manager gets 20%.

If you’re making Conor money and you want to blow 200k on a fight camp then go ahead, but spending all your money when you can’t afford it is just being stupid.

This was always blown out of context. As Varner says, you're going to be paying 10% for training fees. His purse for Diaz II was $3M. So his camp cost him $300K due to that, not because he actually blew $300K trying to prepare. He owed his trainers $300K due to the fee structure, no matter what they did for the camp.

He just used that to hype the fight as proof of how seriously he was taking this fight compared to the first.

That's what nobody gets about the bigger fight purses. Everybody with giant purses is paying numbers like that unless they've renegotiated their fee structure with their gym. I'm sure Conor no longer has to pay 10%, hence why we've never heard how much his camps cost nowadays, but back then he obviously did.

I'm with Varner on this one. She spent 190k on her fight camp? WTF
Well itd be less than that as obviously a good bt of that 200k goes to taxes. But even after that it still couldn't cost her 90% of what's left. Unless she was dumb splurging on designer recovery therapies and bullshit like that all camp long

Um, her accountant is ripping her off.
1) there is no state tax in Nevada.
2) The highest federal tax bracket is 37%, not 70%.

She's either lying or someone is ripping her off big time. If you make less than 10K out of 200K payout, you should find a new job.

A woman exaggerating about money....

Never heard of that before...

This doesnt make sense.
So if she hadnt gotten the win bonus, then she would have been in the negative?
Other fighters get paid less and are taking in more than 2% of their earnings.

lol at blaming organic food
