Microsoft is Buying Activision Blizzard $68.7B ***Update: Acquisition Finalized***

Good they should all be separated.
lol. nah i like cross play. because after a long work day and then doing shit with the wife and kids all day i can game a bit with my buddies who are all on different systems, while you continue to cry. :)<Dany07>

What I see is a wall of garbage!

IT'S A FUCKIN' MEME! And it's accurate as of now. You were supposed to laugh at it or ignore it. You didn't have dissect it but you did and ended up dying on that mountain of beans.

LOL.

You root your predictions on precedence???

LOLOLOL!!!! You claimed TLOU2 would be a timed exclusive! You claimed some underhanded work by Sony/Naughty Dog to set TLOU2 as PS5 timed exclusive and more shenanigans with backward compatiblility. NONE of that was based on precedence or turned out to be true:

This was your nonsense back then and we argued about the merits of your predictions cause that was not what Naughty Dog did for the original Last of Us game. Depending on the topic your predictions are rooted on your bias (and its definitely against anything Sony or Nintendo depending on your argument).

Finally... why do I need to admit that I was wrong about anything? I never said Gamepass didn't work? I never said cloud gaming wasn't the future? I never claimed that Sony wasn't behind on that venture? LOL. You're projecting your nonsense. What I do question is how on earth Gamepass is making money but that's a topic for another day. This is another example of whataboutism you're doing to stray from the fact your got destroyed in this thread because your whiteknighting of a meme backfired...

Cry some more. it's delicious.

Why would I cry? That doesn't solve anything. I just bought a PS5 and disabled cross play problem solved. <seedat>

It's not and this has been stated by people in the know. Which is fine MS isn't trying to make money right now this is a growing phase.

Yes I've followed up on all the discussions. I still am not certain Gamepass will make money hence why I am questioning it. The current format of Gamepass is unsustaineable IMO. You have so many AAA games that could be making so much more money but you are making a LOT less because of Gamepass. Building AAA titles are not cheap. Halo Infinite is less than 10 years in the making. Starfield, Diablo, Starcraft. All of these games are AAA title that would fetch a king's ransom in terms of revenues. All are supposedly going to Gamepass sharing revenues with every other game in there. Something has to give. A decrease in game production (sacrificing quality and content for speed), additional microtransaction in-content, and an eventual increase in pricing.

Yes Gampass is an uber super deal NOW (with the $1 upgrade using Live) hence why I am now a Gamepass member. $5 a month is too good to pass up. But once my subscription is up I really don't see a reason for me to hold onto it. I can't see myself paying $15 a month (as of now but it'l lbe more 3 years from now when I have to start paying it) + having to rebuy some of these games if i want to continue playing them. All the games are "for rent" and once/if they're kicked out of rotation you will have to buy it again if you want to play it. Destiny 2 for example. It's no longer in Gamepass but if you wanted to still play you'd have to pay for it now. I am not the type of player who plays tons of different games. Once I like something I'll play the shit out of it again and again. I still play Starcraft 2 and Diablo 3 every once in while. I fire up CounterStrike Source from time to time. So it's better for me to "own" rather than "rent".

The activity of the three console threads on this subforum is really representative of the sales lol.

This is like saying a games popularity on Twitch is an indication of its user base. Steam itself has more monthly active users than Playstation or XBox.

If they get enough subscribers it definitely can make money. From what I've read that number is around 50 million. As far as a decrease in production value and microtransactions all of that is very possible. Only time will tell what's going to happen. I think it's the MP games that will suffer the most if anything. Something similar to what we've seen from Halo Infinite.

The good thing is as MS gets more devs under their umbrella they can keep the games on GP forever and not have to remove them. Similar to what Netflix does. Netflix stuff never leaves the service but everything else does. I rarely play games twice so I do enjoy the service but yea some games I'll need to just outright buy because I will go back to them eventually.

keep crying

MS will NOT make COD Xbox exclusive. The franchise makes way too much money on other platforms.

But man imagine if they did and it was built specifically for the Xbox architecture.

<{anton}>
LOL, of course they will. Why do you think they spent $69 billion dollars?

Damn these are stacking up for you in a hurry lmao

There's pros and cons to cross play. It was awesome being able to play Outriders with my friends when they were on different platforms. If you have a dedicated set of friends you play with all the time then yes a 1000% cross play is awesome because it'll bring all your friends in together.

But there are concerns with cross play for console players because you will run into cheaters. When I played Destiny 2 on PC it was loaded with PvP cheaters. It is something I never saw when I played Destiny 1 & 2 on PS. I can see people who aren't fans of it (especially if they play solo).

“And our desire to keep Call of Duty on PlayStation”

Left off the last part, chief.
“Desire” doesn’t mean commitment. Eventually existing contracts will expire and they can do whatever they want with the ip going forward, is Sony going to play ball? We”ll see.

Yes they can do whatever they want with it. Like keeping it on PlayStation. Like Phil Spencer literally just said himself. Jesus

One can only hope. I do not share your optimism but I am rooting for you.

The main problem I see is that I do not see the value in it at its current price. Even much less so if the prices goes up. If I think this way then others will as well. I've stated as such but I have many friends with Gamepass (families benefit a lot from this) but I also have lots of friends who had it for a bit then cancelled it. The family plan is $30+/month (friend has it and). That sounds outrageously expensive but it's worth it to him because he gets to game with his kids - and I agree. Right now I am a gamepass user for the next 3 years.. After 3 years I am planning on cancelling. I am not paying $15+ a month for this service. Not with my current gaming habits anyway. That may change but as of now that's the plan.

Gamepass has lots of subscribers yes but how many of them are on this sweet $5/month deal like me? How many of those are going to cancel? Gamepass is starting out hot because the deals are great and hot. Once the initial group's special deal expires will most remain? I dunno. 50 million subscribers that remain after their special deal runs out? Its possible.

I said we’ll see. Nice that you’re so trusting of the corporate behemoth buying up the industry.

It makes sense because microtransacations on COD across multiple platforms are like a money printer.. lol

COD stays multiplatform (but day one on gamepass and Xbox has marketing), every other Activision/Blizzard IP goes exclusive to drive gamepass subs..
