You think Demian Maia and Ben Askren could outstrike most amateur boxers? Average dudes at random boxing gyms could certainly outstrike UFC fighters up to a certain striking level. I don't know exactly where that level stops, probably below the striking ability of Mike Perry -- but it's certainly not below the striking ability of guys like Askren and Matt Hughes.

Michael Jai White tools Alan Jouban in sparring.. He gets the better of most the mma fighters that he spars with. The only reason he doesn't fight is because he makes WAY more money.

Perry lacks elite skills, but he has stuff you cant learn in a gym. The guy arguably beat Luque who is a polished striker from my eyes. Im nothing special, but I boxed in my late teens, early 20's so I have some experience too.

Perry's chin and power keep him in most striking battles. I think he is better than when he fought Jouban too.

I have only seen MJW train and yeah he is much bigger and way more technical. Arguably even faster at 52 years old. I dont know how tough he really is though. I do know Perry is a bad MF who only has ever been rocked badly by a head kick from Geoff Neal.

This is like the Joe Rogan thing. Rogan visually looks like a monster hitting the bag and mitts, and he WAS a great TWD fighter. I have never seen the guy compete in MMA though so we don't know how tough he is in a real fight.
