Media Michael Chandler thinks the "I see red when I get hit bro" approach is Islam's kryptonite

Islams streak is awesome, but I want to see him go through the gauntlet of Dustin, Justin, and Michael. Khabib slept Dustin and Justin. Olivera finished Dustin, Justin, and Michael. You’re a certified bad ass going through that hell hole.

Yeah, it feels like people are assuming he would do it easily based on beating a featherweight twice but I'd actually like to see him go through that gauntlet. It's harder than people think.

Chandler trying so hard - too hard really - to talk his way into a money fight.

The worst type of fighters (in my opinion), don’t win but want the biggest fights. Constantly talking and/or tweeting about why they should get it.

Conor is the President of that group of fighters.

i dont think he beats islam, but that fight should happen, and soon.
How has Chandler earned a title shot? He has a losing record in the UFC. His only wins were against Dan Hooker and TFerg, who was already in a slump when they fought.

I like Chandler, but I don't think his prime version (who lost to Will Brooks twice) could beat Islam...much less a Chandler who's over 35 years old. Very small puncher's chance early in the fight is all he's got.

Chandler just wants a fight with a lot of money and attention. Conor is the obvious choice. Chandler has also thrown out Nate Diaz' name. Besides those two, there's really no washed-up guys he can have a fun/BMF type fight with that will bring in a lot of money. MJ and Bobby Green would be interesting fights against other older fighters, but aren't big names.

So i guess calling out Islam is his only option. I don't think there's any interest in him rematching Charles, Poirier, Gaethje or Ferguson (other big names).

i prefer seeing him fight islam as opposed to simply crediting islam like it’s a foregone conclusion. as for when, i don’t care if he’s 3rd in line. i just think it should happen before we start assuming the outcome.

also fwiw, chandler’s losses are to the best. he might be further back in line, but it’s not like he’s a can.

You still have to earn a shot. You don't go up in the rankings by losing, even if it's to Charles, Oliveira and Gaethje. His only prayer would be a freak situation where Islam's opponent pulls out at the last minute and no one else will take the fight (let's hope Volk learned his lesson).

Michael Chandler had some nice wrestling in Bellator, whatever happened to that?

Islam should decline to fight Michael Chandler if it ever comes up after all the bs Chandler has pulled
There is no one aged 35 or more who can utilize their wrestling fully, proven too many times. It is not a young mans sport. Just takes too much athleticism and cardio together.

I think the Chandler who fought Eddie has a better chance against the top 10 in the UFC.
Their fights (especially the first one IMHO) was the peak of both of their careers. They managed to stay competitive long after that fight, but that fight was a culmination of athletic peak / aggression / resilience.

It's too bad Björn wasted over a year if Alvarez's prime by keeping him from signing with the UFC, and it's too bad that Chandler wasted the rest of his own prime in Bellator. Had they both come over after their first fight, it would have been glorious.

Chandler would have more wins in the UFC if he stopped seeing red. He basically gave away the Dustin fight, he could have easily won 29-28 if he just kept top position in round 3 instead of going for the RNC when he didn't have his hooks in.

i agree about that. i think he can earn a shot though. that is, i think he can put together a win streak.
