Metal Gear solid/ Hideo GOATjima appreciation thread

When can I recruit the chick with the big ol' titties? Just started this last night. Think it's really fun so far.

When I did Mission 3 (eliminate/recruit elite Spetsnaz soldier mission) I restarted a couple times because I didn't want to alert anyone. A couple tries in I get to him and knock him out and extract him. Literally right as I press extract a sandstorm hits and kills him as he's getting extracted -____________- . Restarted as I wasn't sure if that was intentional or not and had to try like 3 more times to get no alerts and complete it.

What's the deal with mortars and mounted machine guns are these of any use to Motherbase or should i just sell them all?

They are placed on your base and your FOB, they are supposed to be helpful when you get infiltrated. Though I barely get infiltrated anyways so.....It's your call.

She comes in at around mission 11, but you can't use her until a couple missions after that.

Mantis fight sucks playing it on the PS3 emulator. He can't find shit haha.

Cool, forgot to ask, do side-ops expire?

Sahalenthropus fight. Any tips? This thing is tanky as fuck.

Fuck it, this thread has convinced me to buy MGS5.

Lots of Helicopter support and bombardments. Also try to stay around tall rocks when you can for when it tries to rail gun your ass(this is also the best time for bombardments).

Did anyone even upgrade there launchers? This fight was super easy. Go into this fight with D-walker with good launchers and grenade/rocket launcher and you will easily win. Be sure to use those god damn tanks to your advantage for Christ sakes, even if your launchers suck, use a tank. Seriously, there are MULTIPLE tanks to use.

You won't regret it

An article I saw posted just now ranking the bosses. Lol at Olga being in the top 10.

http://www.ign.com/articles/2015/08/21/17-best-metal-gear-solid-bosses

Also, apparently spoilers from MGSV are leaking allover the place

I like that Mantis, The end, and The Boss are top three. I heard there might be spoilers out too, I've been trying to avoid them

Im finding this game to be overwhelming right now lol. only 3 % done.

Fuck The End. I shoot that old motherfucker in his wheelchair every single time, so I don't have to go through with his tedious bullshit. Track him, find him, shoot him. Track him, find him, shoot him. Fuck that.

Cool the first time. After that, I can't be bothered. I hate that boss fight.

What was the point of her being basically naked lol

For whatever reason this thread actually has been the first thing that has caused me to get goose bumps over the game. I've been following YongYea but your thread just sorta hit me...there is a Metal Gear Solid Game coming out in 2 weeks.

This might be worth getting the ps4 much earlier than I was hoping.

Lol the fulton system. "90%," takes the shit heads I don't need and kills the target.

I voted for 1, but Subsistence is the ultimate metal gear gameplay experience. Very close call. They're all amazing.

As I mentioned above with my sandstorm story, I think that it's kind of dumb that it doesn't work 100% of the time. I can imagine doing a mission over and over and then having them die at the end when you extract them being extremely annoying. The fact that it happened to me in like the very first side op makes me kind of paranoid it'll keep happening

Idk if this shit was posted already but holy shit is this hilarious

lol I became really good at beating so I still enjoy that battle

Nope, side ops stay there till you play them, though some don't unlock until you beat others. As you beat more, more unlock.

I think raising your medical staff and upgrading the fulton decreases fail rate. Where I'm at right now, the fulton rarely fails, even during sandstorms, then again I have the wormhole fulton which I think is 100% extraction unless badly wounded, then I think medical team level comes into play.

Just remember everyone, in 10 days when you open your case or watch your game download, that it will be the final time you will ever do so. All the memories, all the nostalgia will hit you like a truck. Because this is it. The final Metal Gear Kojima will ever get to make. We never thought it would come, but it has.

Metal Gear 1987-2015.

Thanks for answering that. I can now do main missions in peace

In MGS3, in NG+ did you keep the camos you unlocked on your previous playthrough?

Its the support team that determines fulton extractions

Yep, the last Kojima MGS.

I honestly can't wait to see how badly Konami bastardizes the franchise in the coming years. Konami is going to crash harder than THQ one of these days, when all this bullshit catches up to them.

Got D-Dog and Quiet! Finally got past mission 10, after maaaany attempts due to my stupidity. Back at it tomorrow.

Oh shit, lol. Got them mixed up then. Doesn't the medical team determine whether injured extracted soldiers survive though? Or did I make that up, lol.

Totally overrated boss fight imo. I liked Sniper Wolf more.

I recommend mixing in side missions every so often, it'll help you level up your base and get new weapons and items that are really useful, as well as resources that are pretty critical in doing pretty much any type of development.

Support determines if your extraction is successful in bad weather, which was my problem. I can't Fulton injured people yet.

Same.

It's not even the best boss fight in MGS3. I don't get the love that guy gets at all. From a creative/technical standpoint, it's impressive, but it's just not fun. It's about as overrated as the final fight with Revolver Ocelot in MGS4. All the nostagic nods in the world, can't shake the feeling that I'm playing a broken ass fighting game, and button mashing my way to victory.

Enough with the "best", how about the worst? I'd go with Roller Skate dude from MGS2.

Yep, definitely gonna keep up with doing a good number of side-ops

So I was reading up on some characters and plot stuff since I don't have a great idea of what the story is about (didn't play a good number of the games)and accidentally stumbled upon a pretty big (probably) spoiler. Don't read below if you don't want to spoil anything

Basically I noticed the name "Venom Snake" in the missions and was kind of confused because I was under the assumption he is Big Boss. Sure enough I ended up seeing that there were two different articles on the characters and found out that he's not really Big Boss or some shit. oops

Fatman was pretty bad. That whole crew was actually.

What was the point of her being basically naked lol

They try to justify it by saying she uses photosynthesis to survive and clothing would suffocate her :icon_lol:
