He clarified three times that he's talking about fighting top guys. English isn't his first language, but it's pretty easy to see that he's talking about facing top guys.

Aljo sure was looking like a proud dad when Merab first won the title.
On a serious note, Aljo is probably a tough fight for Merab stylistically. He's bigger and a great grappler in his own right.

I've seen them spar more than a few times and Merab had a real hard time getting Aljo off of his back. Merab pretty much credits aljo for teaching him wrestling and bjj, and it showed when they sparred. This was a long time ago, though, and Merab is definitely the more improved guy over the past couple years for sure. But aljo of 5 years ago against Merab of 5 years ago? I wouldn't be so confident in Merab winning that one.

He talks about top guys then makes a seperate point about activity after. He even says “he’s active and fighting top guys” indicating two points. You’re wrong.

After going on about Yan facing more top guys, and umar needing to face top guys, and umar needing to fight against top guys, what do you think the closing statement about being active is about? You really needed him to add "top guys" a fourth time?

What do you make of him making a point of separating them literally in the first sentence you underlined? And then mentions fighting top fighters and separately comments on activity after. You’re simply wrong.

Merab pointing out the difference between Yan and Umar: "Yan is active and constantly fighting top guys", Those two qualities go together. They're not separate thoughts. He goes on to re-enforce both thoughts stating that umar needs to face top guys and he needs to be active. I honestly don't know how you can't see this, but it's all good.

He broke his hand twice in a couple months and needed surgery after their fight and took several months to let it heal. He said he's fighting again in 3 months.

He is commenting on activity with the very clear caveat of it being against top guys. He highlighted that by making the contrast between Yan and umar. He highlighted it again by mentioning umar's only top win is sandhagen, and again by saying he needs to fight top guys. Activity + top guys = Merab's thoughts. Not just activity. He clearly doesn't care about just activity, otherwise he wouldn't have went on and on about facing top guys"
When he says umar needs to be active and constantly fighting, you seem to think Merab suddenly doesn't want umar to face top guys anymore, despite him pointing out how he wants umar to face top guys 3 times in the previous breath. I don't see the confusion at all here.

Yes obviously he’s criticizing Umar’s lack of activity and top opponents whilst saying Yan is better because activity and top opponents. But I said Umar’s been more active than Yan so that’s kind of a silly point to make.
It is silly to say one guy is active fighting all the time and then ask where one guy is and why he isn’t fighting (obviously implying inactivity) when he’s been the more active of the two.

Recovering from a broken hand, which as a fighter who uses his hands, it's something one doesn't rush back from. Not to mention, Yan has a match booked, Merab is fighting Sandhagen next and O'Malley isn't taking the fight vs Umar. Prob see him booked to fight the Merab vs Sandhagen winner, or #1 title contender fight, once he's back.

Umar has nothing to do with his road to the title or his boring ass reign in general.
After hes gone nobody will give a shit. Petyr yan was a better champion , entertaining wise.
Who really wants to watch fights because of the cardio displayed by the combatants? The people who watch crossfit games?
I hope petyr knocks his ass out so we can see some legit title fights at bw.
The top of the bw division is entertaining as fuck with merab being the only exception.

It seems the majority of Umar's fans just want to push him based on his name instead of his resume.
Give him Bautista or Yan when he comes back, he ain't getting a title shot off a loss, and if Sandhagen loses to Merab then Umar's best (only top 5) win loses some luster.
UFC will probably match him up between my two picks with Song to headline a fight night and give him another top 5 win with an arguably favorable matchup.
