I picked Volk yeah but then went with Topuria over Max. The point is if you're using a phrase like "Dagestani dickriders" you probably have some bias against fighters from that region & aren't making your picks solely on how the styles match up.

It's a nightmare match-up for Merab - he can't out-strike him, so he'll have to out-wrestle him when he doesn't have any ability to control high-level grapplers that can scramble (like Umar).

I guess he has to hope he just breaks Umar's cardio with pace over the course of the fight but he's going to have to perpetually go through a wood chipper to make it happen.

I don't think Umar can control or dominate Merab, he can definitely take him down though. We've seen Merab taken down by Cejudo, Yan, Saenz, Simon etc. Unless I'm tripping. Its more it Umar can match the grappling pace and if he can create separation and land meaningful strikes when he does stop the takedowns.

Yan actually has used grappling against good competition way more than Umar has. Yan is a legitimately good wrestler.

They are both strikers who learned to wrestle offensively to make themselves well rounded. Umar isn't some high pedigree wrestler.
