Rumored Merab Dvalishvili vs Ricky Simon Rematch could be next

Merab should win comfortably IMO
Simon would've gotten mauled by Aldo and Moreas striking while Merab was able to cut them off and effectively strike landing his own shots.
Simon is really tough and gritty but he's pretty basic and I think his limited skill set will prevent him from hitting the top of the division.

They’d Jesus thing about Merab is he may be the biggest threat to Aljo. But they’re besties and won’t fight.

Maybe this is what I was thinking of, I just know he claimed he was gonna go to 145 in the very near future to let Merab get a chance... I was always very skeptical. It remains to be seen I guess.

Ah interesting but ... I mean he's currently getting champ money and portion of PPVs as the co main event usually. He vacates the belt, gotta to imagine he's losing a millions bucks easy or more. The money he's making now is going to have to sustain him post MMA.
Not like after 2 defenses he's getting put right into a title fight. Plus, you're gonna move up to a division where the p4p #1 guy is the champ? I'll believe it when I see it. And he'd be stupid to do it anyway.

<DontBelieve1>

What do you think simon does better this time? or is it more so that you think Font is falling off? Font busted his knee in the middle of that fight and simon still couldn't control him. Simon spent most of that fight struggling to get past the jab, and when he did, he couldn't do much at all in the grappling

Simon was 27 coming off his only career loss by knockout, Font was 32 and hitting the biggest stride of his career. The roles have reserved, Simon is 30 and has lots of momentum while Font is 35 and was a punching bag in his last two fights. I think Simon's striking and confidence has improved a lot since they first fought. Just think Ricky gets it done this time.

I see it the exact same way

That's why I'm interested to see what happens... I know they're tight, but if each guy keeps winning it's likely gonna be a problem

Yup, unfortunately for Merab, he has really no options. He's too small to go to 145 and too big to go down to 125 like DC did when Cain was champ at HW. DC was not champ when he left HW. Asking Aljo to vacate as champion is just absurd. I mean Cain wasn't volunteering to vacate and give DC a shot.
My guess is that Aljo has 1 or 2 defenses left in him. He can beat O'Malley. I think Cejudo beats him and Chito might beat him as well just via his durability and ability to finish late in fights.

A punching bag is pretty harsh considering how much good work rob put in in those two fights, but I agree simon might be on the upswing and rob on the downslide.

He put in good work, no doubt and I've said as much in the past regarding Font in those fights. But the amount of damage he was taking and how he was responding to it is night and day, he went from never being dropped in his UFC career to having been dropped 5 times in two fights and he was hurt in those fights more than that. At 35? I said it harshly because I see it harshly, I suspect this to be the beginning of his downward spiral.

Ricky looked fantastic in his last showing so I’m excited to see him in there again.

merab is currently tied for 2 with yan and o malley is number one on the ufc page

simon is ranked 11. simon is no o malley. merab will probably try to take out chito for sterling
Why would the UFC let him anywhere near Chitto? Chittos being set up for a title shot in the very near future

he seems to be behind Cejudo and Omalley for the next shot. Aljo doesn't plan on fighting again until May-July of 2023. It is going to be a long wait for chito

yeah its a weird one, Merab wont fight Sterling so while he beat Aldo and deserves a top 5 fight why possible knock off a contender for someone who wont fight the champ?

If Sterling doesnt lose his next fight or move up maybe Merab should look at a new div. I get it though I dont know if Sterling or Merab can find the same success at 145 but if Sterling continues on as champ Merab either needs to move up or change orgs.

If O'Malley fights and beats Alji you can guarantee Chito gets 1st crack.
