Not really. Training for Merab and training for Chito are two very different things. It would look bad but he's the champ. UFC isn't going to strip him.

Thus far, Sean has managed his career in almost a perfect manner. I wouldn't expect him to deviate.

It's always funny when they put the guy who should be in the actual title fight as the back up fighter.

At least things are trending well for Merab. I think the whole Sterling thing put a bad taste in everyones mouth including Dana. Seeing how he's performed as the competition got better leads me to believe in the gym Merab handles Sterling, especially since Sterlings cardio isn't that great if the pace is pushed. Pretty honerable of Merab to do but at least it appears his next fight for sure is for the belt.

Conor did do a very similar thing going from a striker to a wrestler in Chad Mendes but Merab is different in that he is in stupid shape year round so this is still another level.

Better than sitting at the gym hoping and praying that the UFC happens to pick you at the last moment, wouldn't it be better to be TOLD ahead of time that you are their choice? Granted we recently saw Gamrot get completely screwed and lied to as the backup, but I'd rather know they're considering me than think to myself in my own little world why I'm the best pick and "they shoulda picked ME man!"
