It's absolutely Herculean.

All of the trees in the foreground of that shot (taken from the lodge) are still green and standing right now because the bravest people in the world ran directly into a nuclear bomb sized blaze with a 25,000 foot pyrocumulus cloud and cut the fuel out of its mouth. It's almost unfathomable how hard and fast they had to work. It's fucking unbelievable.

In the United States, a Shot Crew, officially known as an Interagency Hotshot Crew (IHC), is a team of 20-25 elite wildland firefighters deployed to large, high-priority fires across the country and abroad. They are assigned to work the most challenging parts of the fire and are considered strategic and tactical wildland fire experts. Hotshot crews are the most highly trained, skilled, and experienced wildland firefighters, along with smokejumpers. Hotshots are trained and equipped to work in remote areas for extended periods of time with minimal logistical support. While not fighting fires, they typically work to meet resource goals such as thinning, prescribed fire, and trail construction projects. Hotshot crews can also respond to other emergency incidents, including disaster response and search and rescue for earthquakes, hurricanes, tornadoes, and terrorist attacks.

Cracker Barrel is only "racial" if you conflate traditional Southern atmosphere and slavery. When I go there after church, almost the entire clientele is black. They're comfortable there. They enjoy it. And now we're trying to whitewash that? Who has actually been asking for these changes?
