I don't think there is any legit evidence about that. If that was the case 95% of Sherdoggers would be bald.
I think it has more to do with genetics, stress, lack of sleep, lack of nutrients, bad products for hair, showering with too hot water, suppelements/steroids.

if you masturbate so much that it leads to sleep and nutrient deprivation you can as well go bald because of it, I guess.

Men don't lose hair on the sides. You'll keep that to the day you die, since it's not affected by the chemicals that fuck up the top of your head. Unless you get a disease like alopecia areata, where sections of your hair just start falling out in random spots. But that's rare and not related to normal male pattern baldness.
