I work with a bunch of them. Everyone claimed they/we could do it but wifey is involved with this and wants it done “right” and warranties. So no go mi amigo.
My wife does this to me sometimes. It's super annoying.

I fix a lot of shit before she even knows it's broken because of this. Maybe that was part of her plan all along?

whatever you do don't hire Magnet Mike

And now I am out 3k to replace it and “bring it up to code”. This some bullshit but I ain’t have hot water in a month, so let’s go. My old one was about 14yrs and I fixed it twice already. So no choice now.
Slightly the same.

Last March, just when it got very cold again (warmer Jan and Feb) my parents furnace went out. Had to be replaced, no choice as it was a going to be like a 2-3week cold spell and they are elderly, set them back 8k.

Those major household repairs can really fuck up your budget and savings.

Welcome to the club, Buddeh.

My pipes exploded in my ceiling after Christmas. I paid to have the busted section replaced and it just made the pipes burst farther though out the house. Been with out water for almost 2.5 weeks and being told they're gonna have to redo the entire plumbing to find/fix the problem. I was also on vacation for some of this time, but still.

3k? Thats insane ....
it is...

A 40-gallon water heater effectively meets the needs of a home with two people, and it costs around $320 to $1,600. For homes with five people or more, you may need to consider a 75-gallon (average price of $900 to $3,000) or an 80-gallon (average price of $1,000 to $3,200) water heater.1 sept. 2022

Go to Home Depot and get one of the same dimensions. They aren’t that heavy and you will spend less than a 1,000.00. Maybe sell some of your dolls @Smokes

Mine started leaking a month ago. I was quoted $1,200 to replace it. I bought a new one for $550 and replaced it myself.

Damn!

I installed mine myself and it cost me $300 for a 50-gallon back in 2007.

Want to get a new one in ASAP since the one I installed is reaching its end of life and I want to preempt any leakage issues.

We fixed a neighbor's water heater leak. They found out at breakfast when it leaked through the ceiling. We had to replace water heater plus celing in breakfast area. For whatever reason, builder put them in the attic. Glad I have a different builder.

My Grandma had that happen. Her homeowners insurance covered the cost for her ceiling and wood flooring.

If you live in a warmer climate, having the heater in the attic makes sense. May as well use the heat buildup in the attic to your advantage.

I thought water heater was the name of some obscure Mayberry poster...

Most new water heaters are shit. Do not expect them to last long. I legit have one from 1987. All of the plumbers or HVAC guys that I know say run that as long as possible. They say any of the new ones will be inferior.
