Mayberry Chat Thread V5: Dogs are the best

This is my latest recommendation from youtube. I think it knows I'm a dirty old man.

{<tongue}

I get some of those dance videos too and other random recommendations as well. I've started using the not interested function to weed out some of the odd things YouTube puts on. They don't put the videos from channels I subscribe to.

@fingercuffs I've been on a British/UK/Irish show binge recently.
Started with sexual education (likeable characters/actors but way too woke for me), Derry Girls, currently watching collateral and will follow up with McMafia after.

Got any recommendations for comedies?
My sitcom favourites are Only Fools and Horses and One Foot Under The Grave. Only Fools is a national everyone get together on Christmas night to watch theChristmas special, you didn't miss it.

I have far more dark comedy though if you're interested.

Definitely interested. Lay it on thick.

My favourite show of all time is The League of Gentlemen. It's a bit macabre and weird as fuck...a bit Monty Python but more fucked up.

But Only Fools and Horses and One Foot in The Grave are legendary for more easy going but ball crushing hilarious.

More recently Breeders is more adult with Martin Freeman and a female comedy actress I really like. Sounds bobbins about them raising kids but he's a psychopath who can't tame his temper and keeps yelling at his kids and calling them the c word...I started watching it during Covid and it was a great comedic release.

If you manage The League of Gentlemen I commend you, it's brilliant but very very weird.

Anyone with kids that play sports? My 8 year old's comp/travel soccer team went 4-0 in the NorCal State Cup this past weekend. He got a hat trick in the first 5 minutes of the 2nd half of the 3rd game and none of it came from a free kick. He always plays goalkeeper the first half of every game and only gave up 2 goals. Now they move on to the semi-finals. Even though I care more about development, technical details and his soccer IQ on the field I think when his team dominates and he scores a lot it really motivates him to train on his own (or with me). He is a good shooter and has great passing, but I think as he improves his technicals and soccer IQ he will really shine on the field. With that being said I have so much respect for soccer players. The amount of well rounded skills needed is ridiculous if you want to be the best of the best.

he is just 8 years old
even if he cant dribble to both sides (always easy to dribble to the side of the stronger leg) or shoot with both legs he can still be good, because he is just 8 years old
I believe from what I have seen that training on heavybag can make the player shoot very strong with both legs
good luck with him, and it is tough sport not just skillwise but also require a very strong legs for both long distance and sprinting

Wishing everybody peace, love, and happiness this Friday.

I hope you and those you love and care about are all doing well.

I've kind of gotten into bartending the last few weeks and I find myself enjoying watching this video of a high-end bartender making drinks for half an hour.

I think I'm going to make some vodka martinis later this evening for me and my girl.

Skål för dig! (Cheers to you!)

Anyone notice that when you start dating someone, if they like you they want to talk about the most regular parts of their day. I've been going out with someone for about a month and she just texted me "I'm going shopping with my son." Like isn't it weird that is a major sign they are serious?

I'd never think to text that.

This afternoon I'm out walking with a friend who runs into a family she knows. They are dressed for Halloween. So I try guessing what they all were. The kids: a hot dog with mustard and a strip of bacon. Correct. The mom: Waldo from Where's Waldo. Correct. The dad: Duck Dynasty. Incorrect. He hasn't dressed up yet. Later he's gonna go as a Lucha Libre guy. I contained my laughter till they left.
