The world is a fucked up place, and often people try to hide all the fucked up shit they have inside by creating an image of virtue. But if you want to get rid of the fucked up shit inside, you need to face that the fucked up shit head on and not hide it by projecting an inauthetic-self to the world as a way to avoid having to deal with the fucked up shit AKA trauma. Also being polite is often more based in societal customs, than it is really based in strong morals and ethics. But people often conflate being polite with being a 'good person'. Politicians are often well-versed in etiquette and being polite, but how many people would classify general politicians as moral people?
