"I want to be the best mixed martial artist in the world and being the best mixed martial artist in the world is not a guy who stays in his weight and dominates his weight [like Jon Jones]. It is someone who goes to whatever weight. So whoever is the best guys in the world, you guys tell me. I've got a couple belts I want to fight for. The [lightweight], of course. You've got Khabib [Nurmagomedov], because he's one of the best guys in the world.

"I don't know about holding belts all at one time. But nobody has gotten three at one time. I just turned 28. I can see myself to even getting to 185 and being healthy and getting strong there.

"We'll see what happens. I don't know. A king defends his throne and my throne is here at '45. But if there's an opportunity at '55, why not? If it's defending or fighting for belts, whatever. It's not even the belts that intrigue me. It's being the best martial artist in the world that intrigues me. So whoever you think is the best guy, let me fight him. Let me at him. The belt is just the topping, the cherry on top.

"If the Mystic Mac arrives, if he wants to be what he was a couple of years ago when he was the greatest mixed martial artist in the world and he wants to be the greatest again, I'm sure we're gonna run into each other like that.

"First thing first is Alex. And if the opportunity presents itself, I'm not backing down from it. I want to be one of the greatest in this era. As long as I'm alive and as long as I fight, whenever I'm fighting I want people to talk about, 'Oh, man, he's one of the greatest of his time.'"

Ya just because he lost to Poirier doesnt mean he shouldnt fight at 155. Any guy that walks around in the 180s shouldnt be at 145.

Love Max, but he had his shot at 155, and we know what happened.

Yeah, I remember seeing a pic of him on the scale and the dude looked like death.

I would love to see Max move up to 155.
So many great fights for him there. He had a competitive war with Poirier as well, Who's a top 3-4 LW on the planet.

He's only 28 and stopped the GOAT FW with strikes TWICE. That's amazing. He doesn't have much left to prove at 145. Respect to Max.

He's a fighter that I truly believe when he says he wants to fight the best and welcomes all challenges.

He's in a tough spot. Cutting that much weight is only going to get more difficult with age, and he was beaten thoroughly at 155.

does he realize the guys at 185lbs are really like 220lbs in the cage?

Dear Max,

Please don't turn into BJ Penn trying to prove a bunch of stuff that doesn't matter.
Stay at 145.
People like you too much to watch you get older and start getting your ass beaten regularly.

Sincerely,
Us

He lost a pretty close fight to the Nr.1 contender? Dustin himself admitted that Max was close to finishing him, it's not like Dustin completely butchered Max. If Max grows some muscle, he'll do fine at 155, but I doubt he'll ever fight Khabib, unless Khabib decides to stick around longer than initially planned.

He lost a competitive fight with the a top 3 fighter at 155 soooooo, he definitely should move down to 135.

One of the biggest weight cutters in the UFC I feel his move at LW is inevitable, hopefully he makes a right transition

Max is the most overrated champ in MMA

Mediocre fighter when he isn't fighting people at 145 who he has a foot of height on. He will be a journeyman at 155

His power doesn't carry to 155.

His straight rights are more like jabs to 155 guys.

At 170 he gets embarrassed.

At 185 he won't even get a fight in the UFC.

so who now didnt know that max cuts a crap ton of weight.

is some one jsut butt hurt that max beat there fav fighter at 145.

would like to see him vs rumble one day

After the Poirier fight, I am not convinced he can get another belt at a higher weight class. I think he found his niche at being the "big guy" at 145.

However, I do appreciate his mind set, and potentially wanting to go up and fight in different weight classes.

Walk around weight is meaningless , how do people not see how stupid the logic of caring about walk around weight is?
