Matt Hughes Train Lawsuit

trains are one of the easiest things to avoid getting hit by. i dunno what hughes was doing or how he got hit, but it's probably his fault. i grew up in a semi-country area and even those rail crossings way out in nowhere still have signs and lights (they're rudimentary but they're there).

Mentioning the phone seems like it's hinting at distracted driving. God only knows how many times I've almost been plowed walking by distracted drivers on phones. Can only imagine someone going through not thinking to look cause they're on the phone. Train wins every time.

After refusing to give Hughes the keys to his truck, Audra Hughes claims he snapped and started to choke her. Hughes then allegedly demanded the code to his gun vault, she alleged.

“I told him he can’t have them because he shouldn’t drive due to his [diffuse axonal injury, a type of traumatic brain injury],” Hughes told her husband.

When Audra Hughes refused a second time, the UFC Hall of Famer choked her again before allegedly smashing her head against a shower wall, telling her, “This is what choking is!”

Sherdog doesn't grant second chances. He was a douche bag and made mistakes, unlike anyone here, so screw him. Lol.
Ironically, Matt was one of the nicest professional athletes I’ve encountered. He was walking up to almost every fan in the lower seats at UFC 90 in Chicago and shaking hands. I suppose he was probably trying to grow the sport in his home state, but still. He was super chill, as was Guida.

When I met him he just looked at me like I was nuts. He didn't say anything just stared at me emotionless. But I wear a ton of cologne so maybe he was put off my odor.

This look but that isn't me.

Sounds like a suicide attempt to me, if it happened in a congested suburban area with traffick maybe then I could picture a scenario where he got caught in the boom gates but this was in the country.

Well, the train saved his life. He's a bit too slow now to off himself and might have lost the desire altogether.

Was it a bullet train? If not you had plenty of opportunity to move.

Did you read his book?
Or Sean McCorkle’s summary of it?

Matt was a horrible person.

If he got himself on a better path, then good for him. But if people choose to not feel positive about him, there is ample justification to feel that way.

The guy brags and laughs about animal abuse, statutory rape, regular good old fashion rape (of his own wife under anesthesia), his abusive relationship with his wife, beating his father, all while looking down on others, being a mean spirited bully and all around douchebag.

It is one thing to make mistakes, and entirely another level of human shitbag to proudly publish a book about them knowing full well that his wife and children will have to deal with the material in that book.
Even after the the accident he continued abusing his wife, assaulted his nephew threaten to kill him his own twin brother took out a restraining order against him. you would think after the life changing accident like this would change a person for the better but I guess this is just who he is.

Matt was familiar with the area and lived there for years ..im leaning towards he tried to race the train and got hit by accident or on purpose
if what he says is true about the corn..... he may have a point.

driving in the country side, that corn can get pretty tall, and it only has to be taller than your car for you to lose visibility.

that said, if he was indeed getting divorced and sued by brother, then I'd lean on heavy investigation over suicide attempt gone wrong.

I'm assuming Hughes is the one suing, since the train company suing him would be comically evil.

Without looking too deeply into it I'd say he has no case on the basis that, if we're to believe that Matt wasn't attempting to take his own life, he was trying to beat the train since that was the official story at the time if I'm not mistaken.
so he was depressed or retarded? I think the train company has grounds to sue him.

Wasn't a lot of this after his train accident?

Also, I wouldn't be surprised if he had CTE from too many hits to the head, it can cause people to try suicide. I think Junior Seau and some other football players have committed suicide and I wouldn't doubt if Ernest Hemmingway had CTE when he committed suicide.

If it's close to your residence and you live in a small town, I'm assuming you have had plenty of experience with navigating the crossing of said train tracks.

I always assumed he tried to beat it and miscalculated

I think he was in a rush to deliver the goods, saw only a piece of the train through the corn and thought he could make it.
