My best friend suffered a TBI and recovered very very well. Lives a normal life.

Hughes is a fucked up guy but seriously people very little percentage of the human race deserves to go through what he has been through.

Seems to be doing well after almost killing his wife and sexually assaulting an 8th grader.

I dare anyone who defends Hughes to read his autobiography. The guys is a scumbag on the highest order. And that's in his OWN words.

people can change. sometimes some don't. but i think everyone is capable of changing if there is enough motivation. i know it has happened to me in my life with alcohol. i think matt's near-death experience changed him. i don't know the guy, of course. but from everything i've seen of him since, things seem positive. i think he did physically assault his wife after the accident, though. he still has some ways to go. rooting for him moving forward.

Because nobody but matt would know for certain. And to our knowledge, he hasn't admitted to anyone of such. It just seems likely given the time of his life it happened. Nor has there been any outright denial to my knowledge by him of this theory. If he's even aware of said theory that is.
There is a documentary on YouTube where he goes to the site of the accident and shows that there is a curve in the train tracks and explains that the corn crops were high at the time. Also when he looked down the tracks his view was being blocked by his passenger seat headrest. This makes sense to me because I have had my view blocked by trees or bushes when pulling out of parking lots and driveways. And the headrest and/or door and windshield pillars DO cause small blind spots in a four door car or truck. It seems unlikely and really shitty luck for him but it's possible that he looked quickly and saw nothing but the head rest on the seat and corn crops and went ahead at exactly the wrong time. If he had turned off the radio and put the windows down and listened perhaps he would have heard the train coming.

A fair point I suppose. Only matt would know for certain.

I just thought it was interesting because I was wondering how this could happen. The idea that he (or anybody) "didn't see the train coming" always seems like BS to me. How do you not see a train coming? But after his explanation it seems plausible. Here is the video:

Jeez, I never liked the guy simply cuz of his demeanor. When he got hurt, I lightened up and hoped hed get better.

I mustve missed 60 minutes, as I have no clue about these allegations.

Is there a compilation video of all these things? I'd like to learn about this.

I'd like YOU to read it. People said some of the most inane shit about his autobiography or just interpreted shit with zero context. Like "Oh, he worked on his farm and cut some of the animals testicles off and threw them at his brother." WTF?. But castrating animals on a farm is pretty common. That's the kind of thing that happened.

Other stuff was literally him saying "I regret stuff like this when I was younger" but people acted like he was celebrating his past behavior or something.

Very funny how everyone feels sorry for Matt hughes even though he is an huge asshole, doubt any of those people would feel sorry for Jon LOL.

People seem very quick to give a "fuck you" to Matt Hughes way more than other fighters of questionable character.

Choosing to publish a book where you brag about sexual crimes and animal abuse will have that affect on your public image.

I’ve known two people personally who have been hit by trains
Not in vehicles, from walking along the track
One died instantly, the other managed to survive and is doing pretty good today surprisingly

When I was young at my dads I use to walk the tracks on a route to get to this arcade in town
Some sections there are either drop offs on either side or is real narrow, so if I train comes then, your kinda fucked

I used to use the train tracks in my town to cut from one side of town to the other if on foot because it was WAY more direct, and also quite discreet if one was partaking in mischievous activities like pool hopping.

and that's what he chose to share.

What are his stories that didnt make the book?

What did he do?

There is a link in one of my prior posts to a synopsis of his book.

"But he a warrior and it happened years ago so it's okay coz he's an OG" - the goofs in this thread trying to give him a pass because he was a UFC champ.

Imagine being so out of touch to think this is grounds to give him a pass. Imagine telling some of the people this flog has hurt over the years that it's okay because he was a UFC champ haha.

i bet the father of the 8th grader Matt fooled around with while he was in college was like "oh that's OK, it was a while ago."

(and per the story, that would be his eventual wife and mother of his daughters, so he would definitely have known it was published.)

Also I'm sure his daughter's must love that their dad published stories like that which their friends can have access to and ask them about. That's probably really fun for a kid with a well known parent.

Touchy subject. That's not the angle that is likely to be focused on unless Matt himself chooses to, which doesn't seem likely given his patterns of how he has chosen to represent himself.

What did he say?
sorry I should have thrown that in there but he told my kid "you father didnt teach you much did he?" which doesnt sound bad when typed out, but nobody around even chuckled when he said it. what prompted this was my kid not catching on to the hand shake Matt was going over with him.

Is it just me or has the overall level of hate and negativity really gone up on Sherdog lately?
