Charles Oliveira was originally slated to take on No. 10 ranked Rafael Fiziev, but a knee injury forced Fiziev out of the fight. Gamrot, ranked No. 8 in the weight class, stepped in
on short notice. This is what the latter has to say about the fight:

"I have a lot of respect for him. He's a great person and great name, but right now it's changing guard as I want to take his place," Gamrot says.

Gamrot was on his way to Miami to begin his next training camp. He quickly contacted his manager about stepping in as a replacement though. The opportunity to maybe face
Oliveira was too big to pass up:

"I saw information that Fiziev pulled out, so I texted my manager 'I am ready to get the replacement.' Of course, this is short notice, only three weeks before the fight, but only a
name like Charles Oliveira or a title fight, you can't never turn down this" he says. "I was super happy to get this fight because all my life I've been waiting and training hard to get
this kind of opportunity and finally now we get this."

Stylistically, Gamrot looks forward to test his grappling against the man who holds the record for most submission wins in UFC history:

"I am ready to scramble with him! And I expect the best version of Charles Oliveira. I know this is going to be a hard fight for me... It doesn't matter how, but I just see my hand
being up. I'm like really ready for this fight physically and mentally. This is going to be a great show, for sure."

Imagine it ends up looking like Tavares vs Guida. Guillotine inside the first minute and it's over.

Yeah this won't last long, I dont think. It might be an Arman vs Charles situation with Gamrot controlling the grappling but I think he's a lot more susceptible to getting caught and submitted than Arman.

Good interview. At 1:15 I had a problem concentrating on whatever Gamrot was saying however.

Prime Rio there...

He also said that everyone he takes down is trying to get ip like fire, apart from Arman who wasn't afraid of grappling and that's why it was such a great fight.
He said he hopes Oliveira also wants to grapple so that they can have some nice scrambles.
I'm paraphrasing, he said it in Polish in some other the other interview.

Made just over 10k on his last round 1 KO - I'll put 1k on Gamrot by finish (once the weigh in is done)

One hand it's going to be tough to grind out Olivera on short notice to a 5 round decision, but also Olivera just doesn't seem as deadly as he used to, so trying to KO this guy or submit him is going to be tough. It's pretty evenly matched. But a normal fight with full camp I'd favor Gamrot, so just going to pick him. Olivera seems like he's ready for retirement and Gamrot knows he has to pull this off if he wants to get a title shot.

Charles waiting like...
