Movies Marvel Studios in Crisis - A Variety Article

Yes, Endgame is their most successful movie ever. It had strong girl power themes. There’s an entire section of the movie dedicated to it.

Using your limited logic, the movie would have bombed.

"Entire section of the movie", a 1 minute team up in a 3 hour movie isn't an entire section.

Bud Light is already on the way to recovery. The fringe has left it to empty their diapers on the next thing. Remember when you guys were told by Kid Rock not to buy it and then he was slamming them back a couple months later?

Another one of your lies. 2 quarters straight of losses and declining revenues.

The problem is creating a new IP (new characters) that can rival the old ones. Aside from Fox Marvel characters (F4, X-men/mutants) who else is popular/cool/fun enough to replace the OG cast? The answer is no one. You simply cannot beat that OG cast with that OG history/material source to pull from.

The quality had nowhere to go but down.

The main problem was it took way too long for Disney to acquire Fox. They didn't close till 2019 and it takes several years to setup. We're watching average shit while we wait for Fantastic 4 and the X-men.

I don't know all the Marvel characters (that Disney owned) so I can't say for sure who would have been good to do.

I don't even believe you need characters to rival the old ones honestly. Guardians of the Galaxy was not well known at all and they still did amazing things with that series. A good story with well written characters is going to win every single time.

IMO X-men should have already started. They should be doing individual stories for each and every X-men having them come together.

I’m not either because I don’t care about it. It looks boring and the average person doesn’t care about the fringe super hero they set up in Wanda Vision and Ms Marvel. Almost like there’s a *gasp* oversaturation of this.

Now a deranged person will look at it, see multiple women in the leads and think it’s woke. Normal people will ask “who are these people?” and move on.

I see nothing but female superhero leads in a superhero movie and i think "agenda" and pass on it.

The whole "girl gets it done" nonsense is played out. I'm over it.

Iron Man, if you recall...was a fringe super hero back in 2008. Hardly anyone knew who that was. He wasn't Spiderman...the Xmen or the Hulk. Guardians of the Galaxy? Also frindge.

Both IP's were successful.

I saw that article. The nerve of Blade not even being the main character in his own show! WTF?

The cost of one episode of She-Hulk was ridiculous. I think the local news said the CGI was done by a couple in Maui. Do I need to rewatch for the CGI inserted after streaming premiere?

I'm glad the big bosses are realizing the Marvel Disney+ quality has sucked badly.

Yes it was. Endgame was woke according to the “logic” spewed in this thread. It had an entire section of women picking up the slack of the men and beating the shit out of Thanos.

They hit lightning in a bottle with GoG. I was practically sure that was going to be trash and they nailed it out of the park. But for that one they shatted a few duds IMO. Shang-Chi to me was hot trash. one of the worst movies I've ever seen. It wasn't funny nothing made sense. What made it worse is I really want it to be great but it was soooo bad. didn't watch Eternals but aren't good. I should watch it to catch up but meh. Didn't watch Black Panther 2 either (first was solid/good but not great). I dunno.

I am not in disagreement that great writing will make for great movies but the problem is Disney/Marvel is trying to make movies with less known characters vs OG characters in movies that had solid/great writing. No matter what it's a hard mountain to overcome. The casual fans already bailed out and fans like me (with 90's comic book knowledge) aren't thrilled but are kinda hanging around with a "show me great reviews and maybe ill check it out" attitude.

Yeah, and we’re fucking 15 years past that with it up to our ears lol. Again, the product is diluted to the point that people just tune it out.

Superhero flicks didn't start in 2008. You knew this right? We've been doing Superhero blockbusters since 1978.

He's right, of course. If Marvel are seriously considering trying to bring back RDJ and ScarJo, they've passed the point of no return.

Really? We’ve had multiple new shows launch annually every year for multiple years all tied to the multiple movies released annually that are linked together? We’ve had that going since 1978?

You’re making my point. Let this shit breathe for a bit and maybe people won’t be sick of it like weren’t for the first 40+ years.

Ya.

It is what it is.

This. Women in Superhero movies are there to look good in spandex and give the Hero a reason to go dark and seek revenge if the Big Bad kills them. That's it.

You don't go to a Football game and spend all your time watching the cheerleaders:rolleyes:

Yea but Shang-Chi did well. Sure you might not have liked it but it was a movie that did well for them. I didn't think it was as great as everyone made it out to be but it was a good movie. GOTG did well. They can do it if they would start taking chances. Not everything is going to be a massive hit but it doesn't need to be. Start making the movies so they are semi self contained and if the character\movie does well incorporate them into the larger universe.

Either way trying with new characters is better than what they are doing now. Just recreating the old heroes with different people.

Male superheroes, fine.

Female superheroes, agenda.

Think about that.

Your audience demographics are mostly going to be male. Men are historically considered heroic. And at the end of the day a man is more believable in doing fantastic physical feats.

Is it sexist? I don't care. I've no interest in watching some chick who weighs 110 pounds go toe to toe with some 240 pound man and win when I know damn well that she would get dropped on her head in seconds.

So if I see Supergirl go up against Superman...and win...that's an agenda. Even in fairy tale superhero land. A Super MAN is going to be stronger than a Super WOMAN.

If you are going to do it, you better damn well look like Scar Jo in Iron Man 2...with a not so subtle sex appeal otherwise I bore easy.
