Marc Goddard is NOW visibly a bad referee.

The Blaydes stoppage was so lame, firstly the punch that dropped Blaydes was not even a flush hit, it was one of those push type jabs that knock you off balance, the ground 'n' pound was nothing, few little punches on the ear, its ridiculous, that fight was nowhere near done. Blaydes was fuming straight away and he stormed out the octagon quickly.

There has been so many early ref stoppages in this year alone, I've been complaining about it a lot. This is supposed to be Ultimate Fighting, which is getting lost on way too many people these days.

The refs freak out way easier than they used to, all of them, I guess Jason Herzog is not bad, he lets it go more and doesn't freak out after a flush punch is landed, but most of them are stopping the fights too early for my liking. And people will say you are living in UFC 1, no.. I'm talking about pre Covid Lockdown, pre Covid the refs didn't stop it as quickly, but after Covid times I've noticed the refs are jumping in after a few punches on the glove and forearm area.

Been saying for awhile he's entered BJM levels of bad back when I watched him several times interject himself mid-fight and make himself the main attraction of the fight for next to no reason.

I hate that these baby hammerfists/punches keep causing early stoppages. Sometimes you need a couple of seconds to figure out a way to escape the situation. Blaydes looked like he was about to make his move.

I still have zero faith in Blaydes winning obviously but this was a heavyweight title fight. Let it end decisively.

This is the 3rd championship fight of his that I can remember in very recent times that he had a questionable stoppage in.

Dana/Commission needs to step in, these fights should have more decisive ending than what he's allowing

Izzy /Poatan I

Jiri-Poatan

Now Blaydes-Aspinall II

All of those stoppages were weird.

Izzy/Poatan I was a good stoppage.

Jiri/Poatan questionable, I agree. Should let it go.

Blaydes was a blatant quit, he shit the bed and wanted the stoppage.
It was a good stoppage, and the janitors should've taken out the trash of Curtis Blaydes.

It's lose-lose for refs unfortunately, they stop a fight too late the fans and even Dana at times reem them out and threaten that they shouldn't even be licensed to ref, so they often panic and stop it earlier.

There has to be some kind of decision made based on damage vs just # of hits. Blaydes did technically take 6 undefended shots while under Tom but the shots didn't do much damage at all.

The Blaydes fight was a bad stoppage. Tom was missing the first several punches then when he connected Mark immediately stepped in. Blaydes was kind of shit but the stoppage was much worse..

Blaydes was moving his head and pushing up just as Goddard was moving in to stop it. He had already made up his mind. And he was on the opposite side of where the strikes were being thrown. He's garbage.

Goddard absolutely fucking stinks. Seriously. No way in hell should he have stopped that.

This is some of the dumbest shit I've read in a while. Quite a feat considering who posted it, lol.

Thought those were all good stoppages, Blaydes had his eyes rolling at the 3rd ground shot.

If you are not actively defending, the ref has to stop the fight.

I agree bad stoppage last night. He wasn't visibly hurt and those were just arm punches. Sat right on his knees and wasn't wobbly at all.

Also let's not forget his allowance of cage grabbing. He'll warn you that you better knock it off unless you wanna get warned another 5 times. Forget what fight it was last night too, but he let the dude grip the cage for like 8 seconds straight, and even the commentary team started clowning him.

I don't have a big problem with any of the three, tbh.

Even if we grant that any or all of them are a bit early, I tend to favour the idea that a bit too early is better than a bit too late.

Will that rationale penalize '1 in x' (25, 50, 100?) fighters who may have not only have survived, but come back to win? Sure...but IMHO, that is a small enough proportion that saving the *vast* majority from further damage outweighs the unfortunate outcome for a very select few.
