...and this is a very poor attitude for a fan of martial arts, which is a sport based on honor, respect and sacrifice.
This is wrong and we should really think twice before starting to insult fighters, especially very strong competitors who eventually lose: Conor, Ronda, Anderson Silva, Weidman etc.
Goog buildups, rivalries and competitiveness should be more than welcome: this is fighting and rivalry is good material to fire up fights.
But once it's all said and done I think both winners and losers should be praised for being there to entertain us. There's no need for the hate, for curse words, insulsts and fighter bashing. Just relax and be happy if your man won, or else be humble in defeat and accept it if your guy lost.

Funny thing is, nobody came up with that line of thinking when Ronda lost. Only now when the forum darlings took a hit.

It's not one person always revelling. Different people get annoyed by different fighters, then even more annoyed by that fighters fans, until something that happens to the fighter finally allows the hater to tell the annoying fan to shut the fuck up

The problem is you

I think we have to remember these are not strictly martial arts competitions. There's entertainment as well. No part of trash talk is martial arts, or if it is, it's also a disrespectful part of it. This is fighting at the end of the day. Nothing provokes emotions more than love and war, right?

If a fighter is on record trash talking, they can hardly expect trash not to be thrown their way too. Even if they're innocent, in this "sports entertainment" industry of MMA, you can't expect these numbskull fans to not mock you.

Humans love little more than building up a hero. But one of the things they love more is tearing that hero down shortly thereafter, and that's not limited to fighting. That's just how the human collective psyche (and therefore the media, which exploits its blind spots) works.

We'll have to get used to it. And enjoy the skillful arts on display while laughing at the memes and comments. Be more well rounded, my friend. Like water. Take a new shape.

Be water, my friend.

Or they can just act like respectable human beings and they wouldn't get this shit, if they trash talk to sell fights then well guess what. That's what you signed up for
No one would give Lawler this type of shit because he doesn't go around telling everyone the rest of his division sucks and then lose to said person

I think if you step into the kitchen you shouldn't be afraid of the heat. Conor was pretty salty with his attacks on Nate and Aldo. I think it's clear he rubs people up the wrong way banging on about money and numbers. But the level retardation on Sherdog is quite unbelievable at times. I have no problem with joyous gloating and did some of the same when Ronda lost. But when you get a lame ass sherdog keyboard warrior calling Conor a bitch for stepping into the cage against a bigger, different opponent than he'd been training for; it's just ridiculous. But if you play the fooling around game like Anderson, or the trash talk routine lie Conor or show little humility like Ronda, people will be understandably happy when you lose.

I agree in principle but it's not like it matters. Let them revel.

Well, the guy called other fighters pussies, bitches, cowards, and bums.

So much for respect and honor.

Yah martial arts is based on honor and respect something those two overhyped overrated fighters in ronda and Conor don't do they deserve every bit of hate and then some imo

If a man behaves arrogantly, disrespects his opponents, talks mad trash, and offers flimsy excuses after losing, it's only natural that people aren't going to like him.

The first sentence... Don't you think it's worse for ACTUAL martial artists to act like douchebags ? You're aiming in the wrong direction, man.

I never hope for any person to fail. I hate the idea that someone that you deem nice or less annoying "deserves" a win more, or deserves to be judged more fairly. If they win, they deserve it, and if not, then they don't, and I just move on. People watch fighting with their heart too much, and get too emotional about who is winning and losing, when they should be more worried about good, exciting fights.

As if anyone will give a shit about that. This is internet, the standard is the lowest possible. Besides its a passionate sport, so people will react with love or hate. Why bother?

Thank God Conor never mocks people or acts like an ass. Or most of his "fans" for that matter.

Well, for this place it really hasn't been too bad. It's only been 5 days and it hasn't been too extreme for the most part. There was just a thread last week about Ronda's looks that was over 500 replies!

And I'd say Conor has been more disrespectful to other fighters than fans on here have been about him. So...

It's telling how much they're crying when their boy gets touched up.
I had to endure watching Anderson, a legitimate contender for GOAT status, lose via clowning KO (props to the Chris), getting his leg broken, then pissing hot.

We all have to endure a few weeks of brutal Sherhumility.

The butthurt is real.

Oh shut Connie fan until he lost huh?!?! We need more people like you.

I'm a fan but I'm not gunna bitch when a guy disrespects others and then gets that same disrespect back. What do you expect? If you dish it out, be prepared to take it when your turn comes.
