Many fans revel in humiliation and mockery...

Agreed, and I find it disgusting. However, for Conor I make an exception because either him and his fans were absolutely obnoxious.

It's very satisfying to see Conor fans (and I don't include TS in this since he's mentioned other fighters as well) crying about everyone giving their favorite fighter shit when they've done it pretty much all the time while Conor was on top (which imo he is still is, even with the loss).

At least Conors testicles can breath a little better with most of the nuthuggers releasing their grip after he was destroyed by Nate.

There is still a handful of nuthuggers skulking around though, die hard survivors of the epic conor hype train crash on march the 5th.

When the Conor fanbase keep using the phrase "haters gonna hate" to justify whatever actions of his that might be called in to question is tantamount to saying that standards of common sense and decency don't apply to Conor and that no matter what Conor do, no matter how foolish and reprehensible, normal MMA fans are not allowed to reprimand Conor for that action because that makes them a "hater" and you're simply "hating" out of jealousy or other irrational bullshit like "Herp he destroyed your favorite fighters derp"

The overabundance of the word "Hater" word in this day and age just one example of how the Conor fanbase are being lead down a dangerous path of unprecedented ignorance, apathy and vanity just like Conor

Calling someone a "hater" because they said some criticism about Conor makes the member of the Conor fanbase look ignorant or stupid for giving negative feedback, basically dismissing an argument without addressing it by using a personal insult.

The first guy i ever felt vindicated when he lost was Rampage after trashtalking Wand. Seeing him lying through the ropes was awesome. Never one single time have I wanted to see a guy get badly fucked up when there wasnt shit being talked.

I loved this sport when they were respectful. I always had favorites, but no one I wished harm on, ever.

As soon as a fighter begins to disrespect his fellows - guys who have the courage to get in there and who put in the work - fuck him/her. Respect is an automatic in this sport, but if you dont play by the rules of respect, dont expect to be respected.

And if youre selling out by trashtalking in order to put more casual fans who dont appreciate the hard work and courage, into seats, well tough shit when they turn on you and when the hardcores already hate you. Cant have your cake and eat it, too.

Makes no sense to treat a legend like shit all over the media, and have hordes of casuals eating it up, parroting that a great fighter is a coward or a wimp, then, after the fight you expect him to shake your hand and pretend its all cool? Cmon, life doesnt work that way.

You wanna make a few more bucks by being a prick? It comes at the price of a big old shitpie now and again.

This^^^^^^

When the fighters are respectful in the pre-fight, in fight, and post fight atmosphere you usually see mutual respect and admiration from fighters, fans, media..ect. After all their supposed to be martial artists, but when that goes out the window the haters come out of the woodwork like roaches and feed. Look at the fighters who've gotten that treatment and they all have something in common, their usually brash, disrespectful, and egomaniacal, i.e. McGregor, Rousey, Tito.

...and this is a very poor attitude for a fan of martial arts, which is a sport based on honor, respect and sacrifice..

I stopped reading here.

Fighters should lead by example, then they would get the respect they deserve, not hate.

Its no coincidence that the fighters who get the most hate / trolling / whatever are also the biggest douches in the fight game.

You people take these things too seriously.
Not every martial art is based on respect, honor and so on. Some of them don't attempt to be anything besides a self defense method or just a sport.

About McGregor, the only thing that bothers me is his self help book talk.
And the semi-cult following he has because of that, which now I realize is the teal reason for his popularity.

He's a short, insecure man who acquired some confidence, some fragile confidence based on lies and chest bumping, who became succesful but is still an exception to the rule, he inspires others like him as if they could be as good by following what he says, but he's the exception.
