LA's $750,000-a-year water chief who allegedly oversaw the emptying of the Santa Ynez Reservoir, previously said the "number one" thing she cared about in her role was "equity."

I don't really disagree, although I think its tough to put a tangible amount on either side. These things are complicated and "bias" (my word) is probably too simplistic. People are at the root, and people are complicated. There's gonna be conflicting motivations even inside the heads of those who seem locked into one "side". Self preservation vs loyalty, honor vs practicality, etc.

People always want to paint this stuff as straightforward but it's not. And then the tribalism kicks in and anyone who presents a view like mine just gets cast as noncommittal or hedging or whatever. Which is fine, people are free to feel however they want.
