Polish people were coming here in large numbers, but so were many eastern europeans. All part of the EU deal that was in place. But they all came here legitimately, wanted to work, and ultimately many wanted to go home once they'd achieved a certain level of wealth from working much better paid jobs than they'd get back home. And while they were here, from my direct experience, they were trying to integrate, their culture blended with ours and they genuinely contributed to the system.
This current deluge of illegals are not trying to work, they are happy to just sponge off the British tax payer. They are not interested in blending in, rather they just keep themselves to themselves, in their own groups and have no interest in even learning the English language. They bring crime. They drag down areas they colonise, and people do not feel safe around them (especially young women due to the massive increase in sex crimes that comes with these illegals).
All in all, they bring nothing positive whatsoever and have no reason to be allowed to simply turn up and be free to roam.

Honestly, I don't see the hypocrisy. Just because you are OK with someone coming to the club doesn't mean you have to buy all their drinks while they are there. Most refugees and immigrants are not after handouts. They are after not being murdered and having a chance to work and build a life.

Over the last 20 years I have lived in 6 countries and visited dozens of others. And in those places, when given the opportunity to work, in some cases illegally, the immigrant and refugee population outworks and outhustles the native population by a considerable degree.

Natives are Rocky Balboa before the first fight with Clubber Lang in Rocky 3. Not hungry anymore and just phoning it in. Immigrants are Clubber. Hungry and willing to put in the work and sacrifice. While some have issues for genuine reasons, I honestly think a big part of why many people are so against immigrants and refugees is their presence forces them to confront their own comparative laziness and apathy.
