Maia Prayer Vigil

UFC 148 Spoiler

ADCC Maia is back. Always classy, stopped punching before the ref even stepped in.

word! he won with a TD, that is how good his wrestling is! why am i yelling!?!

Taking down Stun Gun was pretty impressive.

Very refreshing to see him going for that takedown right away. Vintage Maia right there.

A BJJ guy beat a judo guy via takedown.

Send lawyers, guns and money: The shit has hit the fan.

I would say that it was with Judo that he won so therefore it proves Judo is superior because Maia trained it to win.

Kidding!

Good showing by WW Mia, wanted to see a longer grappling heavy match though. Hope Stun Gun bounces back after that one.

seemed more of a freak injury to me, the jury is still out on ww maia. at least we didn't see k1 maia.

Yeah, really hate freak injuries like that.

I was pumped for that fight. Fan of both fighters and I wouldn't have complained either way if one legit beat the other.

It was definitely good to see Maia aggressively pursuing the takedown right off the bat. That's the attitude he needs to have going forward.

Maia was aggressively attempting a takedown. Definitely looks like he is returning to his strength.

Yah, it was refreshing to see Maia go straight to his bread and butter.

Watching Maia refuse to grapple is like watching Shaq try to stand outside the paint and shoot 3-pointers. NO THANKS

travis lutter?

I was really looking forward to this fight. I would've liked to see the fight go on rather than it ending from a freak injury but I'm just happy to see Maia come out and look for the takedown (and against one the toughest guys in division to takedown as well). A big step in the right direction. Can't wait to see who Maia gets next.

Any rumors on his next opponent yet?

So i heard from a pretty good source that it was actually a rib lock what Maia, did sounds far-fetched but the source is really good.

That would explain his extreme jubilation after the fight, and how he knew immediately that the fight was over despite the ref not stopping it and Kim not grabbing his ribs. But I don't buy it for a second.

I was impressed with his persistence in the fight, the fact that he didn't give Kim any space, and that he was able to secure a takedown pre-injury.

Just using his bjj at 170lb is going to make him hard to beat at welter weight. I haven't done any research but off the top of my head I think he schools all fights at 170 easy on the ground, minus the top tier wrestlers i.e GSP, Fitch, Koscheck, but even the wrestlers better make sure to not give there backs.

He may never be champ but I can see him being a top 5 ww.

How would that work? I noticed he was pressing his forearm way in against DHK's floating rib when he took him down, but I've never heard of a rib lock before.

Kodokan Maia?
