Gatekeepers are stagnant in their careers and are given to up and comers to propel them into contention. Magny is the one fighting guys ranked higher than him. Is that characteristic of a gatekeeper? No. Clearly Magny is improving and you don't know if he will get a title shot or not. He fights everyone and just beat a destroyer. Like I said, you don't know what a gatekeeper is.
 
Magny was still in the fight. In a precarious position yes but he was blocking like 3/4 strikes Lombard was throwing. You could also see him trying to find ways to get to his feet.
 
Can we all just agree that it was one hell of a weird fucking fight

Apparently it doesn't even take a top 10 fighter for that to happen to Lombard.
 
lol. Lombard didn't do enough to actually finish Magny. Magny actually got out of that bad position and Lombard used up all of his gas. Great job by the ref.
 
The ref did a great job, Niel was constantly moving and covering and by the time he got back to his feet late in the 1st he had completly cleared his head

I think Brunson is the one guy who can get away with it.

He threw everything at Alvey for at least 3 minutes, never slowed down, and looked fresh as soon as the fight was called. Freaking crazy

Difference between landing and having shots blocked or partially blocked. Anyone who has trained knows that.
 
If knees or soccer kicks to the head of a downed opponent were allowed Lombard would have easily finished.

With as much shots as Lombard landed to the back of the head he should've lost by dq. Even during that whole time when Mag was hurt and getting nailed he was always tring to protect himself by getting to better postion regaining guard and so on. I would understand if it was stopped then but comparing the two isn't even close. There was no point when Mag got his back in the end of the second where Lombard was anything other than a punching bag. I can't ever recall a more incompetent non caring piece of shit ref then this one. Yeah Mazz and Yves might screw up alot but I have never seen a ref just stand there and watch an wait for the fighter to submit or go out with no intent at all to stop it for a fighters safety when that fighter is just laying there getting beat on. There towards the end of the second when Mag actually postered up and was trying to put him to sleep and that fucktard of a ref just moved in to stop the fight because the round was going to end I damn near threw my remote at the tv I hope that fuck gets his walking papers.

That has absolutely nothing to do with your statement. You said " if anyone throws that many strikes in one round they are going to gas".

So what does having shots blocked or partially blocked have to do with how many strikes are thrown?

By the way I've been at Jackson's MMA since 2008 and more than likely have way more expereince training with high level fighters than you do.
 
Could been stopped glad it wasn't.. That said magny came with some sick jits and ran a clinic once Hector gassed

Mir vs. Carwin and Rockhold vs. Weidman were way worse than this. They got hammered hard (not with Magny's pitter patter punches) and the ref just stood there and looked waiting for them to die.
