Inflation was definitely the prime driver here, and in every western democracy in the world this year. Every single incumbent regardless of party or platform got hammered. This is the first time in recorded history this has happened but of course people are going to ignore this obvious truth and claim THEIR ideas were good.

If the GOP had run someone less toxic, Democrats would have been smashed. I'm guessing I'm what you'd call a "wokie" but Harris definitely threw the progressive vote away by completely turning her back on the genocide in Palestine. What Vivek and Elon are making CLEAR, is that the US citizens with their shit culture simply cannot compete. That the H! visa holders are like the top talent brought in to sports teams from all around the world to make the teams (or the USA in this case) BETTER><

You need gov't to keep the BETTER and SMARTER people out of anything resembling a free market, where Americans lose, and you need the school system revamped so that hopefully in a few generations Americans can get the jobs without DEI.

The "wider culture war" is progress. The tactics conservatives use against trans people are identical to the tactics they used against gay people, they're incredibly transparent, and they know they're ultimately going to lose this fight.

Cultural norms are fluid and I wish I knew where we're going to be in a century. A solid democracy needs healthy conservatism to temper progress, so that we don't make any catastrophic mistakes, but there's absolutely no reasoning with these people. There is no middle ground, or rather, their view of middle ground is a century in the past.

I'm pushing sixty, I was a kid in the seventies. There are plenty of new things that make me uncomfortable and I've tried talking about them, but most conservatives around here push everything to eleven. I know this is the "war room" but not everything has to be a zero sum game.
