Mackachev vs Topuria won’t happen

I agree, and I didn’t criticize him, I was just answering the original question of how many submission attempts were in the fight.

Now if I am allowed to criticize a little (the fan girls are getting mad anyway), his grappling style has a risk to be boring, because in reality he is no submission wizard and doesn’t actually have unstoppable submission technique. Most of his submissions are done on a compromised opponent (very tired or rocked) and with force and power, not on a fresh opponent with pure technique. It’s not wrong, it’s very effective like that, but he is not a submission artist like many people like to claim.
Who would you say is a submission wizard by this definition?

Islam can't make light weight anymore because he now has filled out his frame and looks like a welter weight, he bulked up nicely. The only way this fight could happen imo....if the UFC (and of course the 2 fighters) would consider a catch weight fight. 160-165, something like that. Both these guys have collected 2 titles in 2 weight classes, doesn't need to be a title fight, just let 2 high level champs duke it out at a catch weight. Don't think the UFC would do it though
Ilia still does not deserve it and it gives him another advantage. If he beat Arman, then maybe he can say he has matched Islam's wins at lightweight but he fucking needs to fight. Its not looking good for Ilia's PR stunt move to not fight and just win advantageous super fights.

Islam is the most technical dag fighter IMO and the best one we've seen. He likes to stand and grapple and he is good at both. This is why he deserves the fights.

Okay, cool. I think I've mainly seen his decisions, but I'm always on the lookout for submission wizards. I'll check out some of his past wins.
Paddy’s triangle on Bobby Green was awesome technique too, I was surprised and impressed.
