Notes: Well my SOHP went down about 10 or 15 lbs since I started focusing more on bench.

EDIT: Forgot to mention that my core must be teh weak. I saw Ascendant mention that it's important to get some more core accessory stuff in so I'm going to stat rotating Landmines and Decline Weight Sit ups. I did the decline weighted sit ups with the weight on my chest because behind me head nearly killed me.

Striking Rounds
-3 X 3 minute rounds w/ 1 minute rest intervals (gotta stop wearing contacts when I do this, they kept movin around on my eyeball when my friend landed one in that area with the mma gloves).

Grappling Rounds
-3 X 3 minute rounds w/ 1 minute rest intervals working specific positions.

Notes: Went to weigh ins with my buddy after helping him cut wieght. I sat in the sauna with him and didn't eat or drink for moral. Cutting weight is never fun, but the sauna makes it worse. We saw his opponent at weigh ins and he is an 18 year old lanky kid. We don't know what his style is, but based on some photos we think it's striking. I'll be cornering him today with some of his other training partners.

I would lower the weight and do them with the plate behind your head. That seems to be the consensus view, and keeps them more strict.

Also, noice skwarts.

Ahhh ok, I'll be sure to go lighter next time and do it that way. I remember being able to do it with a 25 a while back, but I guess I gotta work my way back up.

Thanks! I didn't want to say anything, but that might have been one of my better times squatting in a long time. Since the gyms seem to be closed on Easter I will try to do some light front squats before deadlifts on monday or tuesday.

The plan was to go to Coffee's Gym and do some deadlifting/benching today, but Coffee and the hot olympic lifting chick were there so I got some pointers for about an hour and a half. Not bad for only having to pay 5 dollars!

SNATCH
-dunno how much weight I did, but I learned how to do it.

C&J
-Same thing as snatching

Front Squats
-warm ups-

Notes: I am pretty happy with this. John Coffee seems to think I have some natural talent. It was weird being complemented as a shy/humble dewd, but I am still happy. He said I can come back whenever and he will give me more tips. He said I could train for an Olympic lifting competition in July, but I will be in Ireland at that time.

That's pretty sick dude. I had to pay $80 bucks to get trained in the olympic lifts.
Oh, and I'm jealous of your chins!! Has there ever been a chin up contest on Sherdog?

Hah yeah, but the environment was kind of odd. The people there were kind of crazy. At one point someone pulled out a porno mag and was throwing it around. The oly chick was trying to get these two weight lifting guys to look at it because they kept looking away from it. At least it's friendly I guess? That being said there were two girls there who seemed fairly strong who were snatching.

When did you take olympic lifting lessons? I don't think there has been a chin up contest, there might have been one in the conditioning forum or something ghou.

Porno mag? Haha...well your lesson was much more interesting than mine!

I took them about two months ago before I was even serious about lifting. I went for two lessons. It was fun, but I don't do any olympic lifts now sooo...it was kinda pointless. I feel like it would only be beneficial if I was going regularly which I could not afford!

There was a max chins in 3 minutes conditioning challenge last year I think.

Why are you going to Ireland? Vacation? My fiance and I are planning a trip there for our honeymoon. We're just nailing down the final details now and we're both super excited. How long are you going for? Which areas will you be checking out?

It was pretty interesting, but at the same time you could feel a good teammate vibe going on between all the people in the room. You should start doing some of the lifts, especially power cleans. That way you don't need to do boring stuff like BORs for upper back work.

I am studying abroad this summer so I'll be in Ireland for 5 weeks at the Waterford Institute of Technology taking 7 credit hours (6 of which are art classes :icon_twis). I haven't planned too far ahead about where I will be going for the weekend trips. I am definitely going to Dublin since that's supposed to have a lot of stuff. I want to go to Donegal as well to see Castle Doe since apparently members of my ancestors at one point owned it. I might go to cork as well since that's where one of my great grandmothers is from. I plan on asking Big John what to check out since he was there for a 8 weeks I believe for school. That's a really cool idea for a honeymoon! Have you decided any locations you want to visit? I would be interested in hearing some more points of interest if you have found any.

Did you get my text? I had to brag a little :icon_chee I'm going back tomorrow, but it will have to be at around 6pm or 6:30pm since I have class from 11am to 1:45pm and more class from 3:30pm to 5:15pm. Want to join me or are you busy?

John told me to watch that Oly Chic's form and was like uhhhhhhhh no problem!

.

Yeah, I really should. Power cleans are actually what we spent the most time on. And apparently oly lifters get nice asses...sooo...yeah.

Oh, and Im studying abroad too....going to Spain though for a whole semeter. Eek...

We found an Irish tour company that arranges self-drive tours so we're doing a 17 night driving tour. They set up hotels/B&B's for you and book a car rental and provide you with a map and directions to where you're staying. They provide a bunch of suggested places to check out but you do whatever you want. We will be staying in 5 different cities around Ireland so we'll get to see a lot of the country except we won't be going to Northern Ireland.

I have a friend who is part Irish and her Dad sent us a long email with lots of ideas about things to see in Kerry County (southwest Ireland) and of course we have a few guide books that we've been reading through. I'll check my notes and let you know some of the big things we're gonna check out.

Do it! Both of the girls who were doing snatches at the gym today did have really nice asses though

Is that 8 weeks? Honestly I am somewhat worried about the whole culture shock thing. I learned in my ethnic minority psyc class that most people experience it one or two weeks after experiencing another culture. She said that some of her students who were with her in china felt a lot better after experiencing something from their own culture (in this case McDonalds). Keep that in mind if you start feeling homesick :icon_chee

That sounds interesting, the countryside is supposed to be very beautiful (according to my step-grandparents) so the driving will be very nice. Waterford is in southern Ireland so I am interested to hear what is in Kerry Country. I would much appreciate that! Are you avoiding Northern Ireland because of the troubles or just don't have enough time to see it all?
