Media Looking back at Stipe’s last fight

What the fuck kind of revisionist history post is this???

HW title fight was a gift for jones. he didn't "earn" it either.

Tom stepped in on short notice and beat an Undefeated HW in Sergei, Who was the CLEAR number 1 guy, Yes over stipe. The ufc lost their spectacle and Both Sergei and Tom stepped up. You can argue that Tom didn't deserve it all you want, but Pavlovich for sure did, and tom KO'd Him in one. soooo yeah anything other than a title fight is ridiculous for tom.

Stipe could have fought Pavlovich but didn't, despite being perfectly able to do so. Which, as far as im concerned, Gives tom the ability to supercede stipe and it's completely fair play.
Neither really deserved it IMO. Sergei was given a free ride to a TS and Tom got to get a contender fight due to technicality.

Anyone whos trained ...and actually competed understands how impressive that mid fight adjustment was ... Thats champion level traits...all the best champions are capable of making Adjustments during the live action of a fight its what separates them as elite ..Jones...GSP...Stipe, DJ ... Etc
And what separates Jones and stipe is Stipe got KO'd stiff by DC and then had 2 drunken brawls with him. Suddenly realising he can spam bodyshots doesn't undo that

Why dont people ever say that before he got KO'd, it was a close fight or maybe he was even winning.
Because it wasn't a close fight. His TD attempt got blocked and he ate some pretty big shots in RD1 and he got knocked down before getting brutally KOd in RD2

i love how everyone wants bring up the 3 yrs... if he was so brutally concussed wouldnt you want him to take that much time off as a ( old man) vs lot of these other fighters who go back into ring after 6 months... shrugs

I wouldn't call knocking six guys out in the first round, including the guy that Tom has to defend his interim title against (what a concept) as a "free ride".

Just because he beat Blaydes doesn't mean he didn't have a free ride getting there. After he got tooled by Overeem he was fed guys who were on losing skids and aren't even with the UFC anymore. Then when it was time to get ranked he was conveniently given 2 EXTREMELY favorable match ups, Derrick Lewis who was past it and had just gotten KO'ed followed by Tai Tuivasa who didn't even belong in the top 3 and was also given a free ride there.

Lewis was literally KO'd by Tuivasa in the fight before. He fought the loser of that fight, then the winner. Who else was he supposed to fight? Gane avoided him like the plague, just ducked him again, which is why they randomly paired Pavlovich with Volkov, it was supposed to be Pav vs Gane as main event of the Paris card lol. We know this is true because Volkov vs Almeida was already signed then randomly changed days later.

So literally everyone got a free ride to the top? Who, in your opinion, has earned their way to the top of heavyweight? I do agree that Lewis and Tuivasa are not top 10 material and a showcase of the sad state of HW.

Even if circumstances were apart of the reason why he got Lewis and Tuivasa back to back, it still doesn't change that he had a very easy path into contention. Who do I think earned their way to the top of HW? Well when it comes to the more recent roster Francis, Volkov and Blaydes. both gifted nothing, no free rides and had to fight everyone.
