Lombard-Magny score card is apalling

Can you believe this? How could anyone who knows anything have scored a 10-9 on the second round, let alone professional referees?
We need more 10-8s, not less!

Agreed. A 10-9 is when you win by a small margin. 10-8 is when you win by a large margin 10-7 is when you win by an extreme margin. A good example of a true 10-8 as of recent was the Holm-Tate fight, which was dominate , but not as dominate as Magny was in the 2nd round, which is a true 10-7.

Instead of giving fighters 10-9s when they dominate a round, give them a 10-8. If a round is super close, don't pick someone based on subjectivity, just make it a 10-10.

If you get dropped multiple times or get blasted with ground and pound and just barely survive and mount barely any offense yourself. 10-7

If you clearly rock or dominate your opponent and not get rocked yourself/controlled for an extended period of time, then its a 10-8.

Scoring fixed.

better yet, 1 x10 minute round non title fights, 1x15 title/main event fights.

why do they say its a 10 point system. what a joke. it's a two point system. 2-2 is a drawn round. 2-1 is someone winning the round. 2-0 is a dominant round (which is never used.).
for me turtling up and exposing the back of you head shows you have been defeated and should be a mandatory 2 point deduction - then maybe a restart on the feet.

Hamderlei getting robbed with 2 30-27s was also really bad, but this was the giant stake in the coffin for my expectations of the athletic commission in charge of the event.

It was scored 10-9 because Magny got dropped by a punch. His "dominance" of the round was largely volume. Hector wasn't taking big shots. If Hector hadn't dropped Magny then it's likely the round would have been 10-8 for Magny.

I (maybe) unfortunately read about the fight before I watched it. I thought the second round was going to be an appalling beat down the way the internets were crying for the ref's head. What I instead saw was a fighter in Magny who while throwing a lot of punches wasn't going out of his was to throw hard punches, intelligently not punching himself out. 10-9 is fair considering the round winner got dropped.

10-8 rounds don't really work in mma. They work in boxing where knockdowns carry more weight but in mma knockdowns don't mean nearly as much. A 10-7 round in mma makes even less sense.
