Ode Osbourne vs Rodriguez scorecards

True but Ode deserved to lose after he failed to finish a rocked opponent with a locked in triangle choke.

The sport has improved in many ways but one thing that has seems to have decayed over the years is guard work. The display from Osbourne and Grasso off their backs last night was pitiful if you ask me. If you can't play guard effectively then get the fuck up or at least try like O'Malley was.

I don't understand how people are just waiting out triangle chokes in the UFC.

I haven't done BJJ in years, but when I did triangles were pretty much the only thing I was good at. If I got a brown or black belt in one like Ode had Ronaldo, then it was over unless they were really good at the few escapes there is. Even then, not getting triangled is way more about avoiding the lock rather than actually getting out once it's on, which a million times harder.

But Ode and other fighters just seem to have no issues just waiting it out. They don't even try the escapes. Ode is a purple belt too. He's not some high level black belt.

Ode seemed very unsure of the position. He hooked the leg to control Ronaldo but his corner was yelling at him to pull the head. But Ronaldo's arm had not been passed to the other side and I think that was keeping him awake despite Ode pulling the head.

Personally I think its fine to hold onto the triangle in some cases instead of going for the finish. I think it was Chris Wade who reversed Islam but spent the rest of the round stuck in a triangle lock. Even if you don't finish its a good way to control posture. Khabib did the same thing to Abel Trujillo towards the end of a round. But Ode was clearly trying to finish and yet couldn't.

I thought Ode got robbed due to Noche, any other night or venue and he wins without complaint.

I would need to watch it again and I don't really give enough of a shit about that fight either way, lol. From what I remember, Round 2 just barely passed the eye test for a 10-8... but the problem for me is that if you score that one a 10-8 then you absolutely have to give Ode a 10-8 in Rd 1 as well. Bear in mind I'm more liberal than most with my scoring.

Round 1: ode practically knocked out Ronaldo and then locked in a triangle, but ronoldo had minor offense on top after he escaped

Round 2: Rodriguez had back for nearly the entire round, numerous rnc attempts, and lots of strikes

Sounds about right to me. So it'd be 18-18 going into the third, which was apparently the swing round most disagree on the winner of.

I’m surprised so many ppl think Ode won round 3. However, slight majority give it to him, citing that Rodriguez missed most of his gnp shots at the end of the round. I will rewatch it soon, when it was live it was too wild I didn’t pay the next attention to that part
