Logan is certainly up there alongside The Avengers in Sherdog rating.

But Mad Max: Fury Road is still king.

I forgot what I gave it, but witness me! Fury Road is now a 10 in my book! All shiny and chrome.

While I enjoyed the movie it just sort of felt like an Elseworlds/What If sorta thing.

X24 was fucking lame; Albert, Cyber, Sabertooth... etc. there were plenty of established characters to choose from yet they went shitty lame Wolverine clone after cloning a little girl as the next big thing.

Patrick Stewart was great, Stephan Merchant was great, all the acting was solid really. Best Wolverine movie to date no doubt, but in the running as best comic movie? Absolutely not. Not even best Fox Marvel movie.

It was one of the best comic book movies ever. I loved it.

Finally had time today to go see it. And ya, it was everything I hoped it would be! Amazing actions scenes with an not so much amount of over the top of brutality, it was just the right amount for my liking. The hotel scene had me literally laughing with how perfectly brutal Wolverine in the "real" world would be. Just a zero fucks badass. The way it should be!

And the little girl, wow, she was easily the star of the show! Puts the girl from Kick Ass to shame IMO.

There were moments where the story seemed to drag a bit but not much at all. My one minor complaint was how 3/4 into the movie all of a sudden the girl just starts talking and interacting with Logan. Maybe she just wasn't comfortable yet?

Either way, the movie is an easy 9/10 for me. Maybe even 10/10 after a 2nd viewing. Great, great movie.

Is it necessary to watch any of the X-Men movies before watching Logan?
Not necessary to watch the previous X-Men/Wolverine movies but it helps to form some understanding to Wolverine's relationship with Charles Xavier and an understanding on Wolverine's frame of mind.

It also helps if you grew up watching the X-Men movies over the years as it forms an emotional connection with the main characters in Logan and pull your heartstrings at what have they become and what's going to happen to them.

I watched the show some growing up but I haven't seen any of the movies. It sucks because I probably won't have the best experience possible, I guess I could hold off and catch up.

At the same time, I also want you to watch Logan without having seen the other X-Men movies because I'm curious what the reaction will be.

I'll do that then and let you know. It would probably take me forever to get to all of the X-Men movies anyway.

I gave it a 10 knowing that the titular character is a comic book character and with that in mind, the film was quite good for a comic movie and the best thus far, I believe. Unfortunately I fear for these franchises. When their actors are done with their character and want to move on, they either have to - recast the role - reinvent the character for continuity - reboot the series. I fear the Batman curse will follow these stories.

Yeah, but they are set up for X-23 to be the New Wolverine, just as in the comics, and they can always bring back a new Old Man Logan from another dimension if they play their cards right.

We did see the Morlocks in X-Men: The Last Stand... sorta... kinda... not really... but close enough.

Close enough for Bryan Singer, maybe. Psylocke and Arclight weren't Morlocks, though, and Callisto didn't have super speed.
Arclight was actually a member of the Marauders and we all know their relationship to the Morlocks. On top of that, this all occurred in X-Men 3: The Last Stand *shivers*.
Caliban was a Morlock as well.
Yes. He and Callisto were the most prominent Morlocks. Movie Callisto not only had super powers, she possessed Caliban's mutant tracking ability, too.
I'd say Masque, Leach, and Famine, and the big strong guy whose name escapes me were the other named Morlocks (A version of Leach was also in X3). Marrow was another well known Morlock (they hinted at her in Deadpool).

Big guy was Sunder.

Saw it tonight and here are my thoughts on it. I'm gonna put it out there that I've disliked or flat-out hated every single X-Men film to date. That being said, this movie surpassed all my expectations.

Great performances by Jackman and Stewart. And holy shit, those action scenes! At long last, we get the brutal and visceral Wolverine violence fans have craved. This movie has some of the best superhero action scenes ever, not just for their intensity, but you can actually see all the action as it happens. No subpar or inept looking action scenes (*cough* X-Men Apocalypse *cough*) to be found. Dafne Keen did an amazing job as X-23, both in the action sequences and in the acting. I'm so glad they didn't fuck up one of my favorite X-Men characters like Fox has with so many others.

Overall, the story was very well told. I had some relatively minor issues with it but overall it was great. Even this franchise's notorious handling of continuity didn't bother me. I pretty much went into it with the mindset of it all taking place in its own alternate universe like Old Man Logan. The one real drawback, in my opinion, to the film being this good, is why the hell did it take 10 or so films for Fox to finally do these characters justice?

Great sendoff for the character and easily Jackman's best as Wolverine. Even with myself not being particularly fond of this franchise, the ending was great and kinda brought the feels.

Some issues I had:
1. X-24 being the end fight. Didn't bother me much but it would've been cool to see Sabretooth again.

2. Also a minor quibble, for being a brand new clone, X-24's healing factor seemed pretty gimp. He needed a shot of that healing serum just to help regenerate from that shotgun blast? Wolverine should come back from even massive head wounds in 10-15 mins tops.

3. Yeah, staying with that family was pretty stupid and basically signed their death warrant. Especially since Logan must've realized they had Caliban and were using his abilities to track them.

4. I thought the end fight should've lasted a little longer between Logan and X-24. I think it would've been better to see Logan still high on the serum going toe to toe with the clone and eventually a combination of the serum wearing off and Logan's age/health results in him getting outclassed and impaled.

Mangold fucking knocked it out of the park with this one.
9/10
