Lmao Trump wants to replace EBT and food stamps with food boxes

hi SRN,

i miss a guy on youtube...i think his name was MREjap, or something like that.

he'd post all these videos of him eating different MREs and comment on them in poor english.

- IGIT
Hey IGIT
I'm not someone really interested in MREs so I don't know MREjap (funny name though) but for some reason I love watching this Steve guy eat really old, disgusting looking food. Would you believe it if I say it calms me down? Something about his voice maybe.

Cheers.

I think an EBT card just simplifies things...

granted there is the minority of the population who abuse this social service and/or buy stupid shit...

but I think the single mom, or struggling single parent's life shouldn't be further complicated or restricted.

and who decides what foods will be delivered?

what if families have dietary restrictions?

etc etc.

on the surface, this seems like a good idea, but in practice I'm sure it will essentially resemble the idea of "drug testing those on welfare."

ends up being a waste of time, money, and burdened by government bureaucratic shit.

If you really want to save money, get rid of all these programs and send cash.

Blue Apron is not actually cost effective. The accumulating / shipping of perishable goods will cost a lot.

It's not only cost inefficient, it's destroys one of the very few places people of all social strata still intermingle; which has social costs we see every day.

I agree with you. The January SNAP audit report estimates fraud at 1,5%, so that's essentially a non factor.

This is all Mulveney - Trump doesn't know a damn thing in his budget proposal. It's a House Freedom Caucus' wet dream budget, from where Mulveney came from.

Mulveney is in my personal top 5 of faces I need to punch.

Stephen Miller has a lock on #1.

it would be easier to pay the fda to compile an acceptable food list such as nutritional staples.

and then every store would have to abide by the fda acceptable list to recieve ebt funds.

e.g.

spinach
eggs
white rice brown rice

(all highly nutritious per dollar spent and widely acceptable for most peoples diets)

right now we got high end new york strip steaks on ebt (luxury item)

and cereal (junk item)

Possibly his best idea to date.

Execution will be hard, and it will cost more but could deliver real benefits.

Difficulty is tailoring packages to what people will eat.
Dropping off a cabbage a week and it never being used would create a lot of waste.

Trump doesn't have ideas, just grosteque impulses.

hello The ScorpioN,

i can see the pros and cons of it.

on one hand, i like the idea that if folks are to get a food subsidy, they are forced by the government to eat the food the government wants them to eat.

on the other hand, the italicized part bugs me.

- IGIT

Indeed, force feeding would be terrible.

EDIT: might actually constitute torture

It's the only place you can see a lot of chicks in one place you mean. I agree.

Good idea but looks very hard to make work.

This is brilliant strategy. Further humiliating the poorest is pure heroin for the Trumpster voters.

Forcing the poor to ride the bus or train to a pick up location and then carry their Scarlet Letter box home so their kids don't starve to death will fill Trump's base with glee and make them forget about the fact that there will never be a real border wall, tariff's on US companies manufacturing overseas or a Clinton prosecution.
