He meant "easy money" for the boxers
I hope Woodley gets his due credit. Woodley is the only guy to actually hurt Jake and put him in real dangerWhen he says "boxing" he pretty much means "Jake Paul", and the reason Jake calls out MMA guys is because they have name value and credibility as fighters but suck at actual boxing. Its better for him than fighting no name C level boxers who are likely to give him a tougher time than the MMA guys.
Top boxers make more for sure but you can't compare the HW champions in boxing to LWs. What does a 155 lb boxing champ make? Junior MW is 154 lbs
WBO: Sebastian Fundora*
IBF: Bakhram Murtazaliev
WBA: Terence Crawford**
WBC: Sebastian Fundora**
What do these guys make? Or alternatively compare what Jon Jones made vs Stipe to Usk and Fury.
I think you're missing the point. The scenario is about UFC fighters crossing over to boxing, Not about what they earn in the UFC.
The UFC has a larger audience and more stars these days than boxing. So, calling out UFC fighters to box is where the money is.
Like we saw with Conor Vs Mayweather, Ngannou Vs Fury, Nate Diaz Vs. Logan Paul etc...
It is a fair comparison for the simple reason, Conor aside, HWs draw more then smaller division. Be it Boxing, UFC or even Pro Wrasslin'. Highest paid in the UFC after Conor is Jones. Fury and Uysk make more then Gervonta Davis. Andre the Giant & Hulk Hogan got paid more then everybody.Yeah but that's not a fair comparison, before I even look into it...
Bc... lightweight in UFC is arguably the HW of the UFC. It's the hottest division and usually is/has been for a long time.
Heavyweight is rarely the most exciting or hyped division in MMA in general, particularly UFC.
Wheras boxing... it's always HW. Other divisions to boxing fans too, no doubt, and stars and stars, but HW is just always the electrifying casual staple.
But, okay even comparing LW to LW... Gervonta Dvis had a gauranteed 2mil for his last fight + PPV / estimated 20-25mil all up.
