Media LMAO @ how bad the HW division will look after Jon retires

Are you a clown? Are you mentally deficient?

Sorry but any champion that keeps winning becomes a star. Unless someone comes to heavyweight that beats Aspinall, he (Aspinall) becomes a star on his own by simply not losing.

People have criticized Jones, GSP, and Anderson Silva for their "lack of competition", and yet all 3 are have been stars simply because they kept winning. If you're actually delusional and unintelligent enough to believe that Aspinall cannot become a star on his own if he breaks the HW title defense record, then I feel sorry for you.
I never said he could not become a fan favorite, what I said is that he will not surpass Ngannou, let alone Jones or anyone else without better competition.

Also the fighter keeps winning comments is false. Because if it was true then that would make bellator and Rage cage champions some of the best champions in MMA by default of just winning. Ryan Bader defended his HW Bellator belt as many times as Stipe. He also is a dual division champion at LHW and HW in Bellator. That would put Ryan bader on par with Jones, DC or any of the other elites by that comparison. The same Bader Jones dispatched rather easily.

Again, Toms best win is volkov and fights in a weak division and his current resume shows it.

Outside of him fighting actual top division elite fighters, he will never I do not see him surpasing Ngannou, let alone any other champion who fought in a legit era. He may be elite but sadly he did not fight an elite in the division yet.
Again, saying that he won't surpass Ngannou or Jones is the same thing. You're arguing that there some arbitrary ceiling for Aspinall, which is pure fiction.

Too many sherdog forum posters are cowards that avoid making direct and definitive statements. DO YOU or do you not believe that if Jones retires & Tom Aspinall defends the heavyweight championship 10+ times that Aspinall will surpass Jones/Ngannou.

If you say no, then you're just an absolute naive idiot and a blatant liar. If you say yes, then you admit the premise for your entire argument was false and you need to shut your mouth.

Jones' run at HW is a limited, blatant gimmik that i'm not even sure that will benefit Jones' resume in hindsigh, it doesn't impact at all the division's balance.

that's not that much worse than it's been all along. UFC HW has never been good.

Wrong. It was def good not even good but great in a period in 2010s best it ever was in UFC at least by far.

2012 UFC HW rankings

Cain
JDS
Reem
DC
Werdum
Barnett
Murr
TRT Bigfoot
Carwin
Hunt
Struve
Roy
Rothwell
Browne
Stipe
Kongo
Mitrione
Tim Johnson

That is a great division. That 2011-2014 period was best UFC HW ever was by far. Like a Struve wasn't taken serious back then as a contender yet he is better than all but a handful HWs now easily and in 2012 he KOd undefeated prime 30yo Stipe.

Roy was a gatekeeper for top 10 back then and prime Roy would be top 5 today.

Division has been a dumpster for years now but it WAS great once upon a time. No question.

Completely agree with you.

The division would be good if we got Ngannou vs Jones, Ngannou vs Aspinall, and Aspinall vs Jones. However, Ngannou wanted money and Jones wants to duck competition. So we end up with a (seemingly) weak division.

Dana White is more than partially to blame for the apparent weak heavyweight division.

HW doesn't really look better or worse with/without Jones. He has beaten someone that can't grapple and someone that should have retired long ago.

There is nothing to lie about,

No, i do not think he surpases jones, let alone GSP or Silva, if he defends his belt 15 times in the current HW division. i cannot put him ahead of Cain, JDS or any other elite fighter who actually fought elite fighters in a much tougher division.

Jones arleady defeated one the divisions elites in Gane relatively easily. The same Gane who Volkov could not beat and Spivac (considered an elite grappler at HW currently) could not outgrapple.

Tom beating an old jon jones would be a great achviemnent but that is not comparable to beating actual elite divisional competition. Like I said, if just winning meant you surpassed UFC champions, then Bader would be considered an elite MMA champion on the same par as GSP and Jones by default for his time in Bellator. Bader was a double champion from 2017 to 2020 . Bader won this title by defeating Fedor Emelianenko in the Bellator Heavyweight Grand Prix between 2018 and 2019. The same bader prime jon jones dispatched relatively easily.

Hasn't improved much. TDD and off his back still trash he just hasn't been tested there since Tai, an obese Romanov, Rozenstruik, Pav don't grapple and how he has another non grappler in Gane. He edged Tybura 29-28. Tom eradicated him.

Prime Kongo still gets him down and beats him up from top.
Prime Kongo was on the good stuff. It's hard to compare HWs pre USADA/stricter testing as it's obvious it's the division that benefited the most from Peds. Roy Nelson was once a anomaly being the fat guy, now it's the norm.

Tom vs Jairzinho Rozenstruik as the Apex main, aren't you excited <{1-8}>

Tbf Volkov had improved a lot since his Bellator days. I don't think the current version loses to any version of Kongo personally.
He has looked impressive of late. Still slow. So i'm not sure he can do much better against Gane this time around in a pure stand up fight. But the way he picked apart Pavlovich was pretty impressive. And that hair combing moment between rounds against pav was hilarious.

I'll stop quoting you here because again, your logic is simply missing.

By your own admission, Jones could retire and Gane could defeat Volkov @ UFC 310, and Aspinall could defeat Gane for the undisputed title after Jon Jones vacates. Aspinall would then be in the exact same position as Jon Jones, beating an "elite" heavyweight in Gane and defining his own legacy.

Yet I"m sure you'd try to play down Aspinall beating Gane based on some arbitrary cope. Aspinall doesn't need Jon Jones to forge his own legacy. If he breaks the heavyweight title defense record and Jon Jones ducks him, Aspinall will go down as the UFC HW GOAT, not Jon Jones.

Jon Jones NEEDS to beat Aspinall to secure his HW legacy, not the other way around.

I guess you're a Jon Jones fan, but the UFC heavyweight division will be just fine after Jon Jones.

ANY fighter in ANY division that keeps winning will become a star. Period. The only possible exception to this rule is Demetrious Johnson, who was criminally underrated and criminally underappreciated by UFC fans.

But I guarantee you that Tom Aspinall would surpass Jon Jones if Jones retires/vacates the heavyweight belt tomorrow, and Aspinall keeps winning & defending. The only way the UFC heavyweight picture can be harmed is if DUCK Jones keeps holding the HW title and refusing to fight Aspinall.
You think Tom will ever surpass Jones in stardom??? JFC. Old Man Jones today would outsell Tom in England.

Some of you really show your age when you don't appreciate that people have been watching Jones since 2008.

Jones isn't even the biggest star in UFC history. Not even close. GSP and Anderson Silva were bigger stars. Jones has never sold 1 million+ PPVs.

GSP, Anderson Silva, McGregor, Khabib are all bigger stars than Jones ever was.

I promsie you that if Jones retired right now, and Aspinall defended the HW title 10+ times that he would be a bigger star than Jones ever was. Easily. He might not even need that many defenses. Tom Aspinall is in a position to dictate his own legacy. He doesn't need Jon Jones.

Again, Jon Jones needs to defeat Aspinall to secure his own legacy as the GOAT. Otherwise he might just be remembered as the guy that ducked the true GOAT. If you can't see this, then you're nothing but an idiotic blind Jones nuthugger.

If Tom Aspinall defended the HW title 10x he would still have a third less title wins than Jon already does.

Like I said. Y'all are beclowinning yourselves with these delusional takes in your hatred of Jones.

Tell me you're an uncultured swine without telling me you're an uncultured swine.

The UFC heavyweight title defense record is 3. There's a reason it's only 3 and it's not because the UFC hasn't had great and talented heavyweights. It's because anything can happen at heavyweight, and all it takes is 1 lucky punch to get knocked out. It is much harder to get 10x defenses at heavyweight than at light heavyweight.

Seriously, you're an embarrassment. Just stop digging the hole you're in.

Im not interested in Jon vs Tom because Tom will put him to sleep in the first or second round fairly easy

Jon vs Pavlo would be more interesting
OMG

This reads like Jones has 10 losses by knockout or something. It’s pretty hilarious.
