Listen, for all you know, Lewis wanted out of the TOP 5. He likes 3 rounders and is comfy with the 200k he's getting. He literally said himself he doesn't care about belts and being the champ.

For a guy that only seems to want to get paid don’t you find it highly disingenuous to say he doesn’t care about being the champ? Especially after losing twice in title fights?? I mean the champ makes the most money.

UFC didn't pay him all that much more when he fought for the belt. That's why UFC like him, he's active and doesn't complain. Anyway, I don't buy his excuse only cause I know it's a cope for not being good enough, but I do still believe he doesn't want huge fights cause it's too much work.

Some guys just don't want to be leaders like that, it's fine, I guess.

At the end of the day, while they keep steering away from it, UFC's motto is they are looking for contenders. Every time they cut someone, they say he wasn't contender material anymore.

So with Lewis, I just think he knows he's not good enough to be messing around with belts, but blowing big opportunities starts to push you towards the chopping block. Ruins any forward momentum and speculation about your value. It's safer to camouflaged yourself in the middle.

Beating guys like Daukaus and Tai is what he wanted. Get those nice 3 fights a year in. Unfortunately, Tai turned out to be much better than he expected.

I don't think Lewis is actively declining championship fights, he just doesnt really care about positioning his career to get there. Those who wants the belt are constantly positioning themselves to fight the right person at the right time to get a title shot quickly.

Lewis is just content with fighting anybody they put in front of him if they pay him. If it gets him to a title shot so be it, if he doesn't he's fine with it too.
