Listen, Lewis Should Actually Retire

37 years old, out of the top 5 for sure after this. Unless he wants to stick around and gate keep, I don’t see him sniffing the belt again. Imagine him going to BKFC.

He is in it for the money. Why can't you understand this?

The level of HW is so low that Lewis will be top 10 for the next 5 years easy.

Tuivasa is a fighter who matches very good against Black Beast, as he has monstrous chin and heavy hands. Lewis had 5 KO losses before the fight and it's not like he has some Ngannou, Nelson or Hunt level chin. It's mostly his timing and power that keep opponents away.

Also that elbow was brilliant and deadly, it would've put most HWs to sleep too. And Tuivasa landed 2 more punches right on the jaw and 1 more elbow before the final one. Lewis is okay and will deliver more KOs for us. But taking a 7-8 month break sounds like the smart thing to do now.

Hes a top 10 level HW, is 4-2 over the last two years and is making six figures per fight. I dont think he needs to worry about retiring just yet. Theres still fresh winnable fights available for him too.

Tai was always going to be a problem for Lewis because of his chin. Most guys would have been gone in the first round from the shots he got caught with. If you can withstand Lewis's power you have a good chance at beating him.

Tai did very well, I didn't expect him to win, but his next fight with a ranking now going to be in the top 5 screams trouble. Gane likely picks him apart, Blaydes would be a massive problem, ditto Volkov. Still let's hope to see more swanging and banging next time out. Lewis will be fine, will just shift down slightly, still plenty of fights for him.

Listen, Lewis has a family and likes making a lot of money.

I don’t see why he should retire. He has an iron chin and there aren’t many heavy hitters at HW. He has in my mind never been an actual top 5 and now he’s not even officially a top 5 HW. He can still beat most sloppy HWs but he will of course never beat the elite (unless Ngannou breaks down again). He also has a good shot at beating Tai in a rematch. Unless he starts getting beat up badly or knocked out, he can continue knocking out cans and earn good money. If every fighter that is several steps behind being elite should call it quits, there wouldn’t be many fighters left to fill 99% of the shitty cards.

You’re crazy. He can now go back to beating unknown Russian dudes for probably a mil+ per fight. You think hes saying no to that?

His in for the money and the fitness. I don't think his going anyway anytime soon. HW division isn't that deep.

He hasn’t taken much damage. I thinks this is his first actual KO loss. Like the first time he got slept. He has a few more years to get those checks. He’ll be ok

Listen, UFC and MMA more generally needs all the HWs it can get, for as long a period as they can fight and KO people with their beer bellies (or even "strong core with a layer of fat" bodies).

Lewis should fight as long as he can get those fat checks while maintaining at least semi-hot temperature in his balls.

Listen, you should actually stfu

Anyone else wanna see Black Beast fight G Hardy? Defender of women vs woman beater. Should be fun.

Should he retire? Of course he should, the story doesn't get better from here. Retiring in your hometown after a hard fought battle around the people you love.

Does he actually have the 1.5mil-3mil invested to support his lifestyle without ever having to work again?? Almost certainly not

Has he saved or invested any large portion of his earnings the last 5 years?? I hope so, because it's sad when you devote your life to being a fighter, destroying your brain and body in the process, and after all those years you don't have enough to retire and have to pick up an entry level job.

I wouldn't mind at all if he called it quits, he has given us so many great fights and moments. I really hope he can have a good retirement one day and provide for his wife and children with the best life possible.

37 is still prime for a HW... why would he retire?.. he could still make good money KTFO out of most of the HW division, for years to come...

Lewis does not, and has never cared, about the belt at all.

He will gladly gatekeep for the next 3-4 years, fighting 3-4 times a year, and keep collecting big checks.
Ah yes, gatekeeper, anyone who isn't champ

MMA is evolving

One dimensional striker with zero wrestling/BJJ knocked out of the top 5 by another One dimensional striker with zero wrestling/BJJ, iz normal for heavyweight
