I was 18 so not really "these days" but yeah. She wrote me a letter profusely apologising which I guess was so I wouldn't sue her.

Many years later driving my company VW on the way back from a meeting I rear ended someone. It was a slight bump, I was definitely at fault, followed them back to their flat, I apologised, my colleague was okay, no one had injuries and my finance director came to me a week later saying they claimed on their insurance for Whiplash. It didn't cost me a penny being company insurance but I was so fucking upset like it was a sleight on me personally. The 4 of us were fine but I guess you have to twist the system in your favour.

I know you're not supposed to say sorry for any accident but the one's I've had where it's my fault I'd feel like a proper c word if I didn't apologise, that's what insurance is for.

15. Climbed or hiked a mountain? Many. Spent most of my free weekends when I lived in Edmonton out in Jasper, Alberta (camping and hiking)

Yeah, I've heard about too many people getting hit by assholes not paying attention, so I just refuse to trust crosswalks anymore.

Anything that outweighs you by a tonne automatically has right of way. It doesn't matter who was technically in the right when you get splatteded.

You guys have roundabouts, much safer compared to a stop sign that in some areas, the cars simply blow right past at 30mph (50kph)……

I was amazed in the article how many people never caught a fish or drove a stick. I think the younger folks in here have probably not even had the opportunity to drive a stick.

Yeah it's just a sign of the times - depends how old you are and where you grew up. Can't shit on someone for not doing something they've never been exposed to. I think most folks over 40 who grew up in a blue collar environment would have done 15-20 of these things before even finishing high school.

I was 23 when I said this to my cousin when he visited me in the hospital. He was making a joke of me almost dying. I already wrote 2 songs, recorded it with my band and were played on air in local fm stations. I'm good. I achieved what most musicians 2x my age failed. That's what I felt until I had kids.
