The smaller ones are ok taste like a red or sheepshead the big drums like 20 lbs or above I don’t mess with but some people eat anything.

Edit: they’re easy to scale and filet just like a red easy no problem at all.
 
Hit up the pier at Seal Beach this weekend. Had a big ass Halibut on the line but sucker swam under the pier and snapped my line.
 
Oh man, I haven’t fished since starting my new job early to mid august. Plus, my jeep is in the shop and I am not taking a kayak out on my wife’s mini cooper lol
 
Got the boat out for the first time in 3 months last week. Fired it up and before even backing out of the ramp the impeller shit itself. Spent a couple hours with the trolling motor near the ramp, but should have just went home. Not a good area at all, I never had a hit, my buddy lost a few small bass. Ordered an impeller so I could go back out this weekend, turns out when I bought my used motor the seller told me the wrong year. So of course the impeller didn't fit. Now I'm waiting for the right one. I swear it'll be winter before I get to fish again.

That’s not uncommon in that area my uncle used to catch them shrimping (that area leads directly to gulf) the winch would usually have no problem pulling thousands of lbs in but if you had one of those beast in there it would be on the struggle bus.
Florida gets all the attention but we get great whites on our coast (1 last year) that swim up from Mexican waters and end up cruising our coastline looking for food.

I have always been fascinated with sharks. I used to do shark dives when I was younger. In 2000, I was in Nicaragua studying monkeys in the jungle for a month. It was on an island located in the middle of lake Nicaragua, which has bull sharks in it as they can live in both fresh and salt water-one of the only species that can. We were in a village one day and I saw multiple people Missing arms and legs. I was advised it was due to el tiburon (sharks). There was a research group there a few months prior that failed to catch any, but the previous year, multiple large bulls were caught in the lake. Anyway, the next day, we were swimming in the lake and something very large bumped into my leg. I did not go back in the water and neither did my wife. While still fascinated-especially with extinct species, I rarely go in the ocean anymore.
 
Boss told me I need to go on vacation, so leaving after work and driving through the night to spend a couple of days Musky fishing

Just a bump, I picked up some Northland spinnerbaits on Amazon for $3.50 - $4.00 each. Had to search to find the discounted sizes, but found a handful while watching college football Sat night.
