Lets talk fishing

I'll be fishing Easter weekend. We get some wrasse, leatherjackets and salmon off the pier, really trying to break my 0 on the Squid though. I'm going to try another method, using whiting bait on a squid prong, I usually use a squid lure.

This is what I'm chasing, epic eating and also great bait

I get them in my monster bass and mystery tackle boxes. I buy them every once in a while, but I don’t go out of my way to buy them. The only reason I made a whole z man box was because they don’t mix with other plastics so I wanted to have one box just for them. I have a few other Ned rigs in my bag that aren’t zman
What box do you keep your Zman baits in? First pack I bought I didn't know any better and put them in my regular tackle box. I opened it at some point and found a puddle where they used to be. Now I keep all soft plastics in a binder, in their original bags.

If you have a farm store around, like Tractor Supply or Rural King, grab a pack of castration bands. Only a couple bucks, and just one band will last until you break off. Plus they’re a lot easier to roll on than tubing, at least the tubing I’ve used. I have a bunch around for banding calves and tried one because they looked promising. They’re the best thing I’ve found for wacky rigs, by far.

Im gonna give these a shot. I normally use surgical tubing thats pretty strong but gets weaker in the sun light.

I generally keep my plastics in the original container and take them in a monsterbass plastic bag that sometimes comes with the monthly subscription. But this box is zman only because I didn’t want to accidentally mix them up for that reason. I keep them in a googan ice box that I previously used for terminal tackle and is now my ned box

I need to get back into fishing.

I used to fish regularly using no bait and a spinner. In the space of a year I caught two fish and only because it hooked them in the eye.

Sweet! That middle fella is electric! LOL
That a mutation or something?

The hatcheries selectively breed for it.
The great thing about them is that they can reproduce in the wild, unlike hybrids such as the tiger trout. Tigers are brown and brook hybrids, brown eggs and brook milt iirc.

What state are you in? Water temps here are rocketing up, but fish still haven’t pushed into the shallows. At least I didn’t find any on Monday. Temps were 62 so I thought a few may be getting shallow. But water was mid 50s two days earlier so they must still be getting warmed up.

Northern California. Water temp was 63 degrees at noon.

They raised the water levels up like 25+ feet right as it started warming up. So there are PreSpawn & Spawn Bass coming up into the newly submerged grass to make beds and look for some hunnys....

I prefer NOT to "Bed Fish" but instead fish the edge of the Grass Line for Bass feeding . . .
