Lets talk fishing

So peaceful, so quiet and relaxing.

The drive out of the neighborhood are the birds start to chirp, before the sun comes up.

Then it’s to the gas station and some wondering idiots , ok on to the boat ramp road now get in line and wait to unload the boat. It’s ok unless some “less experienced” people are there and take forever.

Ok finally backing down to the water, and Roar! That 2 stroke Merc comes to life, back off the trailer and go tie up, walk around and BS with friends waiting on take off.

Ok call to boats, look at draw number and try to figure out who is where and what flight you are in, get semi lined up.

Kill motor. Ok National anthem, everyone stands and the Anthem plays, it’s about to begin.

Fuck I drew boat 50, traffic is gonna suck, but not as bad as boat 150.

Loud speaker chirps Boat 1!
Boat one motors passed the doc with livewells open and gets the go ahead from the director. They are idling to the end of the no wake zone as boat 2 comes to the dock and on and on.

Ok here we go boat 50 called, slam the Merc in gear and we are in traffic to the dock livewell check. Get cleared

Trimming down and idling in traffic to the end of the no wake zone.

Arm trim computer , ready pass bouy and BAM that “Rainbow in the Dark “ Screams to Life

Immediately fly by boats 49-47 before they are even on pad, motors coming up and trim computer is running 46-45-44-43 -42 fly by them motors SCREAMING Now 7000+ rpm passingboats in a blur

Wake traffic is rough, reach over and disarm trim computer , going manual for a little while R2, bump the trim down a couple clicks, jumping wakes passing but not as fast in this wake from the traffic

Ok get out of the main body and up into the mouth of the river, water smooths out.

Drop the fucking hammer like it was Mjolnir, on the trim, we are fucking rollin’ now

Passing boat like they are tied to the dock, that fucking Merc back there is screaming like it’s in the Battle of Thermopylae, and it’s the last Spartan standing 8k+ Rpm 110mph

Knuckles white gripping the wheel, boat feels light, nose high in the air the sound the hull now makes on the little ripples on the water are totally different from what you normally hear, when you are up in the air over 100mph.

Coming up on a boat fast, can’t let out too quick going this fast, bitch will spit you out.

Bump trim down a couple clicks first , get some boat in the water , back out the gas a hair and hold on , cross wake straight at about 85, back on the trim and back on the hammer, turn coming up rivers getting narrower.

Bump the trim down and back out some let boat settle, ok trim down and corner hard.

Back straight, only out 3 more miles and 4 turns to go. Rinse repeat.

Set boat down, idle into back water.

Fish are busting in the pads, shad are getting chased. Fuck yeah

Pick up the buzz bait, plop plop plop plop , swoosh Bass on

8 hrs later....

Check fish, add a little more sauce to the water, make sure waters full in live well, time to run.

Screaming back, fighting traffic and coming off pad In the river for kyackers and shit. Fucking wake board boats, gotta slow down for that wake.

Last these assholes, damn didn’t leave enough time for that, we gonna be late.

Hammer down, white knuckle 15 miles to the dock for weigh in at 3:00.

Get there at 2:58, throw boat number chip to dock guy to check in. Wheh, made it.

Park boat and get the fish, wait in line at the tanks, fuck some big sacks coming to the scales, do we have enough?? We’ll see.

Weigh in , sitting in first 25 more boats to weigh in after.

Fuck this is stressful watching ever sack of fish come in could put me out of first and hell there’s enough boats left to knock me all the way out of the money.

45 minutes go by, everyone’s weighed in, We WON!!!

Fuck yeah time for a beer and BS with friends

This is why I fish, it’s so peaceful and relaxing <45>

@Jangomike if ever in Texas come fish a local team tourney with me and film it

Went night catfishing with my son last night.....

Ive been fishing my whole life, but just bought a boat this year. Been hitting the lake getting mostly pike and bass. Going for walleye later this week. The bay i am on has quite a bit of different species (bay on georgian bay in ontario canada). So there are lots to go for.
That's a great place. I grew up doing all my fishing at 6 mile lake near Parry Sound. I make an annual fishing trip up to Temagami Lake, and we also hit up the Kawarthas. I love catching walleye because they're the only fish I will eat really.

I never could understand lake fishing for bass/catfish etc. must get repetitive so fast.

now deep sea fishing on the other hand.......thats my SHIT. its a surprise every single time you catch something. I've caught sponges, coral, jellyfish, pufferfish, sharks, all kinds of stuff. and the fish you keep actually tastes better than lake bass/catfish IMO.

Deep sea fishing/shark fishing is fun as hell.
Lake fishing is great. Slow trolling speeds just out for a cruise enjoying the scenery. With lake fishing it's all about finding the spots. 5 % of the water holds 95 % of the fish So it's about locating the structure studying maps for flats and drop offs.

A lot of lakes around me are loaded up with cottages and they're beautiful to look at while out on the lake.

My favourite spot is a place called lake Temagami which is about 5 hours north of me. Its surrounded by crown land so there is nothing.... you feel very isolated out there. Very little boat traffic.

Keep it simple. I’ve caught more bass off of earthworms and a bobber rig than anything else. Sometimes artificial bait with a sinker as well.

Did catch a ton of striped bass trolling with shad minnows as well two summers ago.

What kind of hook setter are you? I watch these guys set hooks on bass like they want to rip its head off. I have never set like that and rarely miss a fish.

Hit em with the Zara spook bait early in clear water that looks like glass

Most exciting bass fishing technique

So, after the birth of my oldest son, I took a break from fishing for the last nine years. It sucked because fishing used to be a big part of my life. This summer, I started fishing again in August to help recover from back surgery. It was tough. The first time out, my friend had to carry everything for me.

I got hooked again, hard! Fishing has taken over all my free time with me either fishing when I can or thinking about fishing. I spent hundreds of dollars on lures and new poles and reels. Just wanted to post a few catches from the last three months. Have not gone many times in November and have mostly been skunked when I did go. I have never fished beyond September. Still plan to go a few more times.

The peacock bass and trout are from 2008 and 1996 respectively, but my all time best. The peacock bass were from a day where we caught 47 ranging in size from 1 lb to 8’ 04” with the Florida record being 8’12”.

the rainbow was 26.5 inches 9 lbs and was half an inch from the state record.

some really nice bass, man.

Have you ever done fly? I haven't fished much in ages, but if I do, it will be fly.
