That's cuz you don't have angler blood streaming thru your veins...I've trout fished some of the most pristine untouched areas in the US where you won't see another soul and the serenity alone is absolutely amazing let alone catching fish that hardly anybody else will ever get to see. Fishing is about the chase, your surroundings, the anticipation. Some people say catching a 20lb largemouth is more of an achievement than catching a 200lb yellowfin "cow" tuna, I may even agree...


I've done both lol

200lb tuna are a dime a dozen, offshore fishing IMO is too easy. Just costs a lot of money.

20lb bass on the other hand, that’s rare air there.

13.5 is my best, but I don’t fish areas that have generally anything that size anyway much.

15lbs 14oz is the record in my state. Actually it was caught 1 year after I was born and coincidentally by the husband of the HR lady at my job in my home county lol.

My personal best is only 8lbs.... I strive for a double digit bass someday.

Cali is home to some extra grande largemouth. Have been very fortunate to fish with some heavyweights of the LM fishing world. These fish get big fast because they're constantly feeding on trout. You know what a LMB's favorite meal is? Anything it can fit in it's mouth..

Yeah I’m well aware of the trout red bass there.

In some lakes even the damn spotted bass are on average bigger than a lot of our large mouth here.

And our spots are normally really small.

You're 100% right. Those trout make em nice and fat. I've caught so many 8 inch bass fishing 12inch worms... just goes to show how aggressive and hungry those little suckers can be

If the water is as muddy as you say, id go with bigger sizes (Bass are obnoxious about how big of things they will bite) and id try Two Tone colors and/or really bright Greens or Reds.

Couple years back had an hourly and daily big bass with a 9.50 something.

You do have a chance. Big bass usually stick around the same structure giving you better odds if you can find it. Theres a lot of strategy that goes into those tournaments. Some guys just want to hurry up and get 5 fish and than start culling. Some guys work different presentations that attract bigger fish and aren't in a hurry to cull. I'm with that 2nd group for most of the day. All it takes is one good fish to change an entire tournament

Depends on the tourney too, if it’s a one off tourney and I know there are a lot of big fish, I’ll just go hunt for 5 big fish and slow way down. Sometimes you find them, sometimes you don’t.

If it’s a series where championship points are involved , get your 5 first everytime (if you can!) I’ve won tourneys without 5 before, depends on area and conditions of course.

Nacochini, or how ever it’s spelled used to have some PIGS back in the day, it’s not as hot now as it used to be but some big fish still to be found.

I live on Lake Houston. It’s not known for big fish lol, but it’s a fun lake.
