Guys, I hate to break to people rooting for the demise of the Democratic party, but disagreements between 4 freshman House members and the speaker and long time members of the party is not "a battle for the soul of the Democratic party".

I see the Dems being very split at the moment, the far left is eating it alive and the business dems or what I call the more sensible dems realize that it will lead to their parties demise if it continues down this road. You can’t have all your candidates raise their hand for approving illegal healthcare as an example. Essentially you have candidates pandering to votes that are already guaranteed and leaving other dems in the air without a party. What Trump has done was in my opinion masterful. He took the fresh faces (four of the most unpopular dems ever) and gave them an even bigger platform than they originally had, essentially making them the “faces” of the party....who had just previously used the race card on their own speaker of the house....

The party is in big trouble but the longer you guys put your hands over your eyes the more Trump can use it for his benefit. At this point I personally believe the dems want Trump to win again and the way I see it the dems need a disastrous defeat so they can pick up the pieces and rebuild the party. If they can get it back to 90’s standards I’ll be there listening

The party is not in trouble like you claim. They had a very good mid-term and are about a coin flip for the presidency. Most of their ideas are really popular and they still dominate among minorities, which is a growing population.

And Democrats have had internal debate over ideas our entire lives. The idea that 4 freshman are causing all this division is crazy. And yeah, there are very progressive candidates running for the presidency. So? They disagree on stuff but they’re not destroying each other.

Trump is set up for a literal landslide in 2020. Right now what you are seeing in these debates is again the Dems pandering to the already secured vote, you can’t see that? None of this will fly in the general when...you guessed it the general public will be watching. The fresh faces are the least popular politicians and continue to torpedo their popularity everyday. Their election was a gift for Trump and he is now taking advantage of it.
