Media Leon says he will NOT sign contract vs. Colby Covington

Respect Leon for saying this but unfortunately the UFC will decide who he will fight next and it seems that the UFC will give the next title shot to Colby

The UFC wants Colby as champ at WW it seems

Leon beats him anyway
 
I like the stance as I don't think Colby is deserving but I'll refrain from showing him the respect the stance itself deserves until after I see who he signs to fight next.
 
I'm guessing he is angling for a bump in pay to fight Colby. He and his team know the score on how dissent within the ranks is treated.

Its because since GSP retired from WW, besides Masvidal, Colby has brought in the most PPV buys with his fights against Usman.

Not Usman himself. Look up Usman PPVs against everyone not named Colby or Masvidal.

Not saying I endorse it, but Dana's push for Colby VS Leon is strictly financial. Leon's resistance better be a negotiation tactic because we just saw what happened to Ngannou if he stays stubborn.

I honestly think that's a great solution khamzat vs Colby both have not fought in a while, interim the winner moves on to a champion vs champion fight with Edwards for big $$.
 
good for him in a way, but bad for him in another way. i mean sure, stick up for yourself and all, but all they're going to do is strip you of the belt and move on. they don't even want him as champ anyway.
 
Leon seems to have it right to wait until the end of the summer, considering March is more than halfway over. That is only 4 months away. Colby is 2-2 since 2019 with both loses being title shots. Let him fight someone else next to see if he deserves it.

What Ngannou did and what Leon is doing are 2 different things entirely.
Ngannou also showed his hand before he played it.

Leon is just saying fuck THAT guy, he's not saying he's not gonna fight.
